Who: Erin and Landon
What: Getting to know each other
Where: Her cave
When: Early in the month
Warning: Nope
Armed with a take-out bag from Hinkles and a bag of baked goodies from Horst's Little Bakery Haus, Erin walked in the woods Landon, who was carrying some pizza boxes from Jendry’s. It was time for their silly little eating completion and they were going to go it at her cave because he was interested in seeing it. She didn’t take many people there but she’d spend enough time with him and she liked him well enough so she decided he was going to be one of the lucky ones that got to see it.
“It’s up here” She told him as they got nearer to it. The area of the cave, inside and outside, was a well put together campsite. Outside, there were chairs, an in ground fire pit with stone lining and a spit roaster near by, a portable table, a cooler, and a dog pen for Booker. Inside closer to the back was a sizeable tent with an air mattress visible and dog bed from unzippered opening. There was enough room in the entire cave to bring in everything from the outside in when she was ready to pack up or the weather was an issue. For lighting, there were twinkle lights strung up all around the cave, all powered by a portable solar powered generator. It was clear that Erin had put a lot of thought into how she wanted the space to look.
“What do you wanna tackle first?” She asked when they go there as she put everything on the table.
***
“Well, these pizzas smell amazing,” he grinned. They had a ridiculous amount of food. Just from the sheer amount that Erin had suggested that they buy he had a feeling that she was going to win this contest. Because he would never have brought this much to start with. It was okay, he didn’t insist on having supernatural powers other than the ones he had. He could just be a normal teenage guy aside from coming back every time he died.
“And pizza is always best hot.” Cold pizza was amazing, sure, but it as an order of magnitude less amazing than hot pizza.
He put the pizzas down on the table and sat on one of the chairs.
“Hey. This place is really nice. Not really what I expected when you talked about a cave.”
***
“I don’t know about that. Cold pizza is pretty great too, especially in the middle of the night” She pointed out with a smile before she turned her back to him. “I got plates somewhere” She told him as she knelt down and began looking through the plastic tub she had under the table that was filled with everything one would need for a cook out. Since it was just her now, she didn’t need to refill it very often.
“What’d you expect?” She wondered as she grabbed the plates and stood up, handing one to him so he could get whatever she wanted. Getting a plate for herself, she put two slices of pizza ( one from each box for the different topings ) and some fries from Hinkles on it then she grabbed a soda from the cooler and went to sit down. “Some dark and cold place, right? It used to be that when I first started coming here” She told him as she got settled.
***
“You know, a real cave?” That was what Landon had expected. And he supposed this was, technically, a real cave, but it was much more like a home than a dark, bat-filled crevice in the rocks. It was actually really comfortable.
“I guess you’ve been coming here a while, to get it this nice.”
He was glad that Raf had the pack, so that he wasn’t stuck out in the woods like this to fend for himself on the full moon.
***
“This is where I go when I want to get away from people and be a lone wolf” She explained as she picked up one of the slices on her plate and took a bite out of it. She seemed to be pondering something as she chewed then she spoke again after she was done. “That’s a lot sometimes and there’s no way I’m sleeping on the cave floor in a sleeping bag surviving with only just a campfire so I made it like my second home” She explained before she took another bite.
***
“That’s really a good idea,” he said. “I mean, if you’re not just coming here once in a while, you should make it comfortable. Some place you’d like to be.” Landon had never really had a home of his own, not before he arrived at the Salvatore School, so the idea of taking a place and making it his own was pretty foreign to him. But the more he thought of it, it was really...well, nice.
“Maybe I should try to make a place for myself sometime, too.”
***
“Exactly” She replied with a nod, mouth full that time because sometimes she dinner have the best manners and sometimes she forgot them altogether. She’d changed a lot of it around after Presto left to make it more of her place instead of their place because having a reminder of him when he wasn’t there just sucked.
“Don’t you like who they placed you with?” She asked after she had swallowed, going for a few fries to eat as he answered. She had always been with some version of Derek in her whole time here, which she was thankful for because it beat being suck with some random townie family. “You can always just camp and escape here for a while until you find a place of your own. That air mattress has plenty of room for both of us” She told him with a bit of a grin as she nodded back to the tent.
***
“No,” he said. “I’m actually staying at the Youth Shelter. I mean, the people they put me with weren’t terrible or anything, but I’ve been at enough foster homes that I know exactly how that can turn out. And that wasn’t anything I wanted. You know?”
And the Youth Shelter seemed like a good place. Stilinski was a nice guy and it was well run, clean and safe. Some of the similar places couldn’t claim that.
“Wait, what? You’re asking me to share a bed with you?” He blushed a little. He wasn’t against the idea, he just hadn’t necessarily expected it.
***
“Oh yeah you’re still living there. My bad” She replied with a laugh, shaking her head in amusement at herself as she shoved a few more fries into her mouth. She remembered that conversation now and she couldn’t believe she had forgotten. “I totally get it” She spoke again after she swallowed.
Out of anyone in this town for him to relate to, she was the right person for him to be talking to. They were one in the same when it came to foster homes. It was nice to be with someone that understood her that way, even if they didn’t have the same story.
“Just throwing it out there” She replied with a shrug, reached over with her foot, to nudge his with a grin. That blush of his was too cute. “Your space is my space. Just you know, not during the fulll moon. Not yet”
***
“You really don’t have to worry about that,” he reiterated. He’d told her this before, although he could understand why she still didn’t want to kill him. “If you kill me as a werewolf, I’ll just come back. Just fine. No bruises or scars or anything.” But he’d wait until she was comfortable with it because he could totally understand having a fear of hurting others.
“I mean, yeah, of course, that would be nice.” The blush was back. He’d never been with a girl before, at least that he could remember. There were weird blank spots in his memory, but he was trying to ignore those as best he could.
***
“I’m gonna anyway. I don’t want that on my conscience” She reminded him as she opened up her soda and took a big sip of it.
Knowing he would come back to life after she did it didn’t matter to her. It was the whole idea of killing him and knowing she did it that would bother her. “Maybe by the end of summer” She suggested as she put the soda back in the cup holder. They were spending a lot of time together and with school being out, they would be able to spend even more time together. Three months seems like a plausible time frame for the wolf inside her to be comfortable with him.
“Have you ever been with a girl before?” She asked not so casually at all as she dove back into her pizza.
***
“I -” he started, and then he blushed. “I don’t know. I mean, I know that’s really something I should remember, but I don’t. There are these weird...gaps in my memory. Like, I can’t remember how I died right before I came here. And that’s something you should remember too, right?”
He sighed, brushing his fingers through his unruly curls.
“I mean, I don’t remember ever, you know, doing that. But it’s possible I did and just don’t remember it.”
He hoped that it wouldn’t matter to her, either way.
***
She gave him a bit of a ‘you’re kidding’ look at first when he said he didn’t know but then he face softened when he talked about gaps in his memory due to his deaths. She absolutely got there he was coming from, as she suffered from memory gaps too whenever she turned every month. “Yeah but it makes sense now why you don’t” She replied with a nod.
“You’ll just have to make sure you don’t forget it when you do it here” She pointed out, purposely using when instead of if. He was a teenage boy, after all. Sex was going to happen at one point for him.Could be with her, could be with someone else. It would all be up to him. If it was with her? She would definitely make it memorable.
“I have memory gaps too” She related as she stood up to get some more food. Yes, she’d already finished what was on her place as they sat there talking. She was pretty hungry. “Whenever I turn, the animal takes over and the me you’re talking to right now gets pushed aside. My mind belongs to the wolf”
***
“Not really,” he said, fidgeting a little as he looked down at his feet. “I mean, the first time I died, I remember everything. I don’t have any blanks at all. And the third time, when Kenny and I went to the woods and I shot myself? I remember that all too. It’s just that second time, when I first arrived here. And I don’t know why. And all the blanks in my memory, they’re not only when I die. I...I honestly don’t know. But I don’t like it. And it scares me a little.”
He shook his head, and grinned back at her.
“I don’t think I will. I mean...I want to. I mean, of course I do. I’m a seventeen year old guy. And there are so many pretty girls here.” He looked pointedly at her because he definitely thought she was one of the prettiest.
***
“Hold the fuck up” She put everything that was in her hands on the table and turned towards him, a surprised look on her face.
Forgetting about the food for a moment, she walked back to her chair and sat down, turning in towards him. “You shot yourself? Why the hell did you do that?” She asked, clear concern in her voice as she looked over at him with her blue eyes. She kind of liked the guy and she didn’t like the idea of him committing suicide, even if he did come back.
“Do you want to with me?” She asked with a flrtly look on her face as she sat back, close enoiugh to him that they could definately easily kiss if they wanted after moving her chair. She red between the lines with that look of his and knew her question wouldn’t be too out there.
***
“I was curious,” he said simply. “I mean, I didn’t want to die, not for good. But I wanted to see if I remembered it when I came back, and I...well, I did. I remembered everything. So it’s just that one time I don’t remember, which makes it even weirder.” He shook his head. He really had no idea how to explain the holes in his memory.
Landon dropped his eyes to his hands, unable to look at her without turning as red as a lobster.
“I mean, yeah. Of course. I’m a guy who likes girls, and you’re beautiful.”
And he was coming to really, really like her, too.
***
Erin just looked at him like he was crazy even though what he said to her made sense. After a moment, she just shook her head. “Don’t hang out with Kenny too much or you’ll be dying like every day. I swear Death follows him around” She told, deciding not to get on him for what he did out of curiosity because at least he lived to tell the tale.
“Maybe some can help you restore your missing memories. Worth a shot to ask around” She suggested with a shrug of her shoulders.
“You’re kinda cute when you get shy” She commented with a smile as she watched him.
***
“Well, I mean, it doesn’t hurt either of us, so is it really a bad thing? I mean, I guess it does hurt but it doesn’t do anything permanent. It’s still something I’m really getting used to, it’s so new to know that if I die I’m just going to wake up again in a little while, you know?”
He looked at her hopefully when she suggested that maybe she could help with his memories.
“Really? I mean, do you think you can do that? Is it a werewolf power or something?”
At her last words, he blushed horribly and ran a finger thrugh his curls, which flopped into his face.
“Um...thanks?”
***
“You should want to live more than you want to die” She pointed out, grabbing her soda to take me a sip of it.
As she swallowed, she shook her head. “Not me. I was talking about one of the people with magic around here. Surely someone will be able to do something. I have no super cool werewolf powers other than the typical enhanced scent things” None of which were really active right now. She was pretty much like a dog right now in equivalent of that.
“You’re welcome” She told him before she leaned over and straight up kissed him on the lips. She thought he was cute, he thought she was beautiful so it seems like the right thing to do at the moment.
***
“I do,” he said. There was no doubt of that. Landon didn’t want to die. He just wanted to understand himself, and what his body did. He didn’t think he could ever be as nonchalant about it as Kenny was. For one thing, dying hurt, even if it was fast. It wasn’t something that he thought of as fun. It was terrifying, even if he knew he’d come back.
“Well, I don’t have any special powers until I literally die, so I kind of get that.”
He was caught off guard when she kissed him and jumped a little, but then he settled into it, and kissed her back softly, raising his hand to her cheek.
***
She put their entire conversation aside in favor of kissing and raised a hand up to run through his curls it continued. This is not how she pictures this day going but she wasn’t mad about it at all because this was so much better than stuffing her face with food. It was too bad they both had to breathe or she would have kept the kiss going for longer than she did. “You have kissed a girl before, right? Or don’t you remember that either?” She teased as she pulled back, her hand dropping from his hair.
***
“Yeah, at least once,” he smiled, his grin lighting up his whole face. Truth be told, there were blanks in that too, but he could remember at least kissing girls once or twice. “I hope I’m not absolutely horrible at it.”
He didn’t want to be horrible at it, because he wanted her to want to keep doing it. It was really nice, after all. Her lips were soft and warm and he was enjoying having her soft, yet obviously strong body pressed against his.
***
“So you’re not a complete virgin then” She teased, loving that grin of his. She didn’t care that he wasn't that experienced ( that he could remember ) because iIt didn’t change at all how she felt about him. It only meant that she could teach him a few thing or two and she was excited about that idea.
“I can’t judge that yet. I think I need a second run at it first” She told him with a grin of her own before she leaned in and kissed him again, scooting her chair in some as she did so she could get closer to him.
***
He grinned and kissed her again, enjoying this more each moment. She was pretty, he was attracted to her, and the kissing was nice. He wasn’t sure how far this would go today, but he was willing to do as much as they were both comfortable with. However much that was.
“I don’t know about the virgin thing,” he laughed. “Maybe. Maybe not.”
Maybe if they had sex, he’d be able to tell if he’d done this before. Maybe he wouldn’t. It was all just weird.
***
“Whaddya say we forget about the food for a while and head into my tent?” She asked with a smile, standing up and offering her hand to him. She didn’t care if they just kept kissing and made out for a while or went all the day. She just did not care at all about the food anymore now and wanted to be closer to him.
***
He definitely wasn’t going to complain about that. In fact, he liked the idea as much as she did and was definitely willing to let it go...wherever it did.
“Yeah, okay,” he said, standing and taking her hand as he followed her. This was going to be fun, no matter what happened.
