Earlier in the day, Nancy thought about asking a few questions around the whole portal thing. How often did something like this happen? What type of places? Along with other questions, then decided against it. Nah, she’d rather jump into the deep end and learn about it the hard way. Once through the portal, she could this place had demons, making a mental note to try to avoid anything where she might bleed. Nancy wasn’t in the mood to have all the demons show up around here because of her blood, it wasn’t her idea of a fun time. Part of her thought about taking a nice little nap on a bench somewhere, maybe later right now she felt like doing some walking around.
The bigger part of Nancy was curious about food if this place had anything good to offer up. No real shocker she was hungry like always. Walking along the streets, she felt eyes on her, turning to see an older woman. “Hola,” she called to the woman with a nod upward. Nancy couldn’t understand what the woman said, but she knew the face. How many times had she seen that face before? She had lost track; however, she didn’t need to understand to know the woman had a sixth sense or something and was calling her a demon. The final confirmation was when the older woman did the whole blessing herself. It did hurt, she’d be lying if she said seeing people fear her didn’t hurt, but she learned years ago to shrug it off.
Nothing she could do other than keep on walking; however, she did turn to look at the woman, walking backwards as she spoke, ”No volveré por aquí.” As she finished her statement, Nancy gave the woman a wink, watching as she expected the woman to look a little worried. The older woman probably thought Nancy made some threat on her life or something. Why not? The woman thought she was a demon or something along those lines. Then again, Nancy knew she wasn’t all that innocent with the wink and if the woman had been closer to her age, she knew she’d have said something in Spanish that was about maybe coming back for her. Elvis was right, she could be a real shit sometimes, but it wasn’t like she actually meant it! That had to count for something even if she was being a bit of a shit. Shrugging, Nancy turned around to face back the way she had been walking since she didn’t need to crash into someone while walking backwards.
