Bucky and Steve had gotten period appropriate clothes for themselves and the girls since they didn’t want to be drawing attention to themselves when they were through the portal. This morning, he was looking to take Kara through so he could show her the bits and pieces he did remember. Plus, they could look at his family from afar. Knowing the version of him from this time spent all morning and afternoon at the docks meant they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone catching them and the cold weather meant gloves that covered his metal hand.
“You sure you’re up for this?” He wanted to double check, although it was probably the fifth time he’d asked her since he and Steve had discovered the portal yesterday. “It’ll be from a distance but- at least you’ll get to see more than just the pictures I have.” Those pictures didn’t do the Barnes family justice, not really.

“Of course,” Kara said. She knew that this had to be difficult for him and wanted to support him however she could. It was a shame that they had to keep their distance, but she understood why Bucky didn’t want to reveal himself or too much about the future to his family. Knowing even a fraction of what happened to him could put them in serious danger and change everything.
She reached out and took his hand, squeezing it in a gesture of comfort. “I got to show you Krypton, so I’m excited to see where you’re from,” she said. The dome occasionally did nice things for them like this and she appreciated it.

"It's not that great," he cautioned her as they made their way through the portal. October was always a cold month and 1936 was no exception. The wind hit them first, followed shortly thereafter by the smell and then the sounds. Brooklyn was hustling and bustling, very much part of the city that never sleeps, although the folks around this area were working their butts off every day just to make ends meet half the time. Bucky remembered the long hours and the rough callouses were still there on his hand. Brooklyn had left its mark on him just as much as the war had, just as much as HYDRA had.
"This time of morning, Ma's just about done with the morning errands," Bucky explained as he pulled her toward the direction of his home. "Lizzie, Mallory and Becca should all be at school." He couldn't remember if any of them had been sick around this time. He really could only recall Sara Rogers being sick, but then again, if his siblings weren't dying, it wouldn't compare to what Steve was going through with his mother.
