Who: Raven Darkholme and Kurt Wagner
What: mother/son bonding... or something
Where: their apartment
When: Sunday evening
Warnings: probably not
Status: closed/in progress

It was a surprise for Raven when she entered the apartment she shared with Kurt and smelled something that seemed to be a home cooked meal. She certainly didn't know how to cook, never had the occasion or need to learn, and they usually survived on take out, especially pizza that Kurt brought home from his job.

She was making more of an effort to bond with him this time, having regretted it greatly that she hadn't spent more time with him when he left town before. Even though she still carried a lot of guilt over abandoning him as a child, she knew that he didn't bear any ill will towards her for it and was determined not to let her issues get in the way of them building a relationship now that they had a chance.

"Something smells good," she said as she wandered into the kitchen.

Kurt had decided to cook dinner for the two of them that evening. He was growing tired of pizza, with working around it and bringing it home after his shift at the pizza place. While he wouldn't have minded take out from another restaurant, he decided that a home cooked meal would be beneficial to them both.

He had learned to cook a few things while growing up in East Berlin, as well as growing up with the Munich Circus. At the moment, he was cooking a simple German dish. Well, simple enough. He was making pork schnitzel. He didn't think Raven had anything against pork, or at least, he hoped she didn't.

He looked up from the stove when Raven wandered in, and he offered her a small smile. "I was getting tired of pizza..." he offered as an explanation.

"You have hidden talents," Raven remarked. She wasn't a picky eater at all. When you grew up on the streets, you ate whatever you had to eat to survive. Sure, she'd gotten used to better food once she found Charles, but then her time with Erik and the rest of the Brotherhood hadn't exactly featured haute cuisine.

She definitely appreciated his effort since her own cooking skills were somewhat lacking and she was kind of tired of pizza too. "Need me to help with anything?"

He grinned at her words, and just shook his head. "It's really not that hard to make. I can teach you sometime," he offered. He would offer to teach her now, but as the meal was almost complete, it might prove to be pointless. He could teach her from the start, though. He really didn't mind, not in the slightest.

"How has your day been, Raven?" And when she asked if she could help with anything, he considered her question for a moment. "Maybe get out plates and the forks and stuff. We can't eat without that." Kurt offered her a small smile, before going back to the food on the stove. "I thought you might have gotten tired of pizza, too."

Getting cooking lessons from her son could be a fun way for them to bond. It should probably be the other way around, with her teaching him things, but Raven figured maybe she could share some other kind of skills. Like fighting. That was probably the only real skill she had.

"My day wasn't bad," she said. "It's a lot better now though."

Raven went to set the table as requested. "How about you?" She wondered how long he'd been in the kitchen.

Kurt didn't mind teaching Raven how to cook, instead of the other way around. He knew that it was likely usually the other way around, but he didn't mind. It meant that they would be able to spend more time together, and he liked that idea. He liked the idea of spending more time with Raven. He knew she likely felt guilty about a lot things in regards to Kurt, but he didn't hold anything against her. He was just glad that they were able to get to know each other here.

He offered her a small smile at her words, "I'm glad your day is better." He was pleased to here this. Pleased that she seemed to be doing well, here in Madison Valley.

"My day hasn't been so bad," he said after a moment. "I don't have work tonight, so that makes it even better." Kurt didn't mind his job, especially since it provided them with pizza more often than not. But it was always good to have a night off. "No homework, either."
