Roxas was not adjusting particularly well to school. He'd barely just started when they'd all gotten sucked into the Wild West, and even without that, with hardly any education background, he was way behind. If anything, getting sucked into the Wild West had helped, since the version of him there had been to school, albeit a very different school than the one in the usual Madison Valley. On the other hand, Roxas felt strange using the memories from that time, which had made him very conflicted about who he was and had made him second-guess whether he could succeed at his goal of getting a heart and still be the same person.

Overall, Roxas was having a lot of problems and a lot of thoughts, and it wasn't a particularly big surprise to anyone when he got told to go have a meeting with the guidance counselor. Well, it was a surprise to Roxas, but only because he didn't know what a guidance counselor was.

Roxas sat nervously in the space outside the counselor's personal office, wondering what was coming. He hoped it was a good thing; a guidance counselor sounded like a helpful person. The other students hadn't made him feel very positive about it though. It sounded like going to the guidance counselor was a thing you wanted to avoid. Roxas felt a little bit like he was in trouble.

Klara was in the school building getting info on some more tutoring for her specifically. She had never attended school before she had arrived in Madison Valley, so she was learning how strange things were. After some time she was getting used to it. That said, she still needed a lot of help. Phil was great, her father was so useful in setting up the homeschooling for her, but she still utilized the guidance office.

She hummed as she walked to the office and took a seat, legs dangling lightly, heels clicking softly. "Hello!" she said cheerfully, Klara was a sweet person and she really greeted most people that she met.

It was just who she was, despite her awful past, she was a genuinely kind person.

"Hello," Roxas replied, giving her a small smile. The way she just sat down and greeted him reminded him of how he'd been in the Wild West, with a heart: open, friendly, although he'd been a lot more shy. He tried to recapture that feeling, although he was conflicted about it. Still, if he wanted to make friends with people who weren't Nobodies, it made sense to use the memories of when he, too, had had a heart. He tried to think of what that other Roxas would have said, and tried to ignore the feeling of emptiness those memories sparked. "Are you here for the guidance counselor too?" he asked after a moment.

	"I am!" She said brightly before sitting a little more prim and proper. "I'm Klara, Klara Prast." She said after a moment before smiling again. She was just a big old sweetheart. 	"I'm Roxas," Roxas said, then hesitated, feeling like he should provide a last name, but he didn't have one and didn't feel comfortable taking on Nico's without asking him. "Just Roxas," he said. Klara took his hand after a moment. She'd forgotten that this was a thing in this time period. Sometimes being older than dirt was tiring. "A pleasure to meet you, Roxas. Are you new?" She hoped she'd gotten his name pronounced right.

"I'm home schooled, so I sometimes miss things. If I can help let me know. Being new is awful." She continued gamely on, smiling brightly.she was a girl torn between two eras: the late 1800's and modern. It meant she was both like m proper add overly cheerful.

Roxas smiled a little, then looked sad. This wasn't the first time he'd heard of home-schooling, but he was starting to worry that he might end up having to be home-schooled as well. He didn't want that; he wanted to have the experience of being a "normal" boy, even if he couldn't be entirely normal. In Twilight Town he'd always been curious about the kids going to school, and this was his chance to try it out. "I'm new to school altogether," Roxas replied. "Back where I'm from we got trained and went on missions, but..." Roxas trailed off. When he first got here, he had gone around telling everyone that he was a Nobody, but after seeing what it was like to have everyone thinking he was a real, normal boy in the Wild West, he was more shy about sharing that information now. "I didn't go to school," he finished instead.

"I never did either!" she said warmly as she looked at him, "Girls weren't allowed to go to school and then my mother thought I was the cause of a curse or something, so she married me off and that was the end of hoping for education. I was ten? give or take? It's fuzzy."

She shrugged, "So I am homeschooled because I get easily lost in school and I didn't know how to handle it. Now I am studying at my own pace. It's kind of nice."

Roxas frowned. Klara was talking pretty cheerfully, but her story didn't sound cheerful. It also didn't make much sense with what he understood. "Why weren't girls allowed to go to school? That sounds like a weird rule. And I thought you were supposed to be older before you're married? I don't know much about marriage but I only ever see old people being married. Except in the wild west." But even they had been older than ten.

"I get lost easily too," Roxas admitted, "and studying at my own pace sounds kind of nice. It's sort of what I'm used to, too. Back where I'm from, I was being trained by myself at first, and then just with Xion. It's really different being taught things with all sorts of people around. I can't ask as many questions, either."

It was her life. She'd accepted it. Understood that it was wrong. "Women simply weren't educated in my day. Not really." She knew that it wasn't okay what had happened. But why be sad over it? "You are. It was arranged by my parents. I was an abomination. But it's okay. I'm here now not there!"

"It is heavenly. I can take my time and not worry about falling behind. I am grateful." She patted him lightly on the hand. "You'll figure it out though. They'll help." Gesturing to the guidance staff.

Roxas looked at her in surprise. This wasn't something he'd expected to find anyone to share. "I'm an abomination too," he said quietly after a moment. "I was never supposed to exist." He breathed a little; it felt good to admit it out loud to someone who might be able to understand, instead of just as an explanation. "Where I'm from, people like me are called Nobodies, and we're not really people. We're what's left over when someone loses their heart to the Darkness. We ... don't have hearts of our own."

Klara tilted her head to listen to him, giving him her full attention. "What does that mean for you? I've never heard of that kind of situation, so pardon me if I misstep. Does that mean you don't have emotions? I don't feel like that is right, though." Then she paused.

"Wait let me show you, share myself first. Watch that plant." She pointed to the one on the desk not far from them. She was focused on it and slowly, as of being gently coaxed, all the flowers opened fully. "I speak to, listen to and have control over plants."

Roxas watched with awe as she made the flowers bloom. "That's beautiful," he said quietly. "It seems to me that that makes you more full of life, not less."

Roxas drew a deep breath, trying to think how to talk about himself. "I've been told that Nobodies can't feel anything," he said, "since we don't have hearts. They say that any time a Nobody shows something that looks like emotion, we're really just imitating emotion from our memories." He shook his head. "But I don't have any memories, and I still have friends. Best friends, who I worry about, and miss. Are those emotions not real? I don't know." He shrugged. "Zexion, Xemnas and the others all say that we have to try and build this place called Kingdom Hearts, and that when it's built we'll all be able to get hearts and become full, real people who really exist. But I wonder sometimes if we'd even be the same people if that happened. And even amongst the Nobodies, I'm different. Me and Xion. Neither of us have our memories, and both of us can do this." He held out his hand in front of him, and a beam of light appeared, coalescing into a strange shape somewhere between a sword and a key. "It's called a Keyblade," he said, "and defeating Heartless with it frees hearts to form Kingdom Hearts."

Klara took a deep breath. "It is a curse to my parents. They think I'm devil spawn. It is genetic. I was born this way."

"If you think you feel them, you do." She said firmly as if she was the end all be all on the matter. "Emotions aren't ruled by the heart. They're all on here." She tapped his head gently.

"You're you! If you want to change for you, that's one thing, but changing just because they think it would be better that way? I don't know."

Then she smiled, "That's amazing!"

"I don't think it matters how you're born," Roxas said. "I just think it matters what you do with it." He gave Klara a gentle smile.

"I don't know if I want to change for myself, or because they think I should. I thought it was for myself, but now I wonder if it's just because I was told that's what I should want." He looked down at the keyblade in his hand contemplatively, then banished it. It swirled back into streams of light and disappeared.

"You just said it, Roxas! It doesn't matter how you're born: it's what you do with it." She grinned cheekily and smoothed her hands over her skirt.

"If you want to feel emotions: do it! If you don't, don't. Think on if you really want to change for you. I think you already are what you think you want to be. You have real emotions. You said you have friends. You seem to want things. So I think you're already there "

Roxas smiled. "You're very encouraging." He wasn't sure he believed her; he still had a lot to think about. But it was nice to have someone believe in him so much. It was reassuring. "Thanks." He figured he should return the favour, as much as he could, though she seemed to already be pretty happy with herself and who she was. "I think you're great the way you are too."

	Klara smiled as she nodded, "Well, I've been in a dark place before where I didn't know how to be okay with myself and now I try to help others too." she smiled as the counselor came out to call for Roxas.
