Coming back online was like coming out of the dark. Humans never really could appreciate how much longer an AI lived for every second a human did. Church could do so much before one second clicked over to another that being pulled and stuck in the dark for a week had been like being in the dark alone with his other personalities for years.
Reconnecting to Carolina's memory unit and implants flooded him with sensory information he was no longer used to. It took time to adjust until he could work the hologram projector again. He projected himself out as a hologram while running scans fully intending to find that something disastrous had happened to keep him from both Carolina and Wash for a full week.
Only to find that there were too many people in the bed. Sure, he was used to having York and Carolina draped all over each other in the bed but what he wasn't used to was Wash curled around her from behind with an arm across Carolina to make sure he was touching York.
"You have got to be kidding me! You fucking pulled me so you could play menage a footsie with both your boys?" Church was livid which meant he was projecting his voice at full volume. Look at them sleeping there so peacefully! "HEY WAKE UP!"
Wash and Carolina both jerked awake which meant that she accidentally elbowed Wash as she reached for a weapon that wasn't there. Wash had already been moving back but the bed they were in wasn't really meant for three people so when he got elbowed he ended up sliding out of bed and landing on his ass.
"What?" Wash was a little confused at the change between going to sleep and waking up so processing wasn't working too fast.
