Claire was left standing in the middle of the street with her welcome packet in one hand and a look of utter disbelief on her face. One moment she'd been in the car with Owen and Maisie and then she'd found herself here stood in the street somewhere completely unfamiliar. She was trying to process what she'd just been told, none of it made sense and she wondered if maybe she'd fallen asleep in the car. The only way she could think to test that out was to pinch herself, so that's what she did only to find it did in fact hurt. "Okay, so this is real," she said to herself, glancing down at the pack in her hand before looking around her.
She knew she couldn't just stand there in the street, she wouldn't figure anything out that way so she picked a direction and started walking. If she didn't find anything helpful in that direction she'd turn around and come back to where she'd shown up before trying a different direction. Claire made a mental note of where she was, checking out landmarks before she moved onto the sidewalk and set off at a brisk pace.
As she walked she started to flick through the things in her welcome packet, most of the things were what you'd expect to find, details on the town and where things were. She spent a moment too long looking over a piece of paper and not paying attention to where she was going so she didn't see the person come around the corner in time and collided with them, the papers in her hand fluttered to the floor and she sighed in annoyance, bending down to pick them up before they got lost. "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going," she said, still looking down at the ground and gathering up the materials from her welcome pack.
