WHO: Tom Lucitor and Terezi Pyrope
WHAT: Having a Talk
WHEN: Today
WHERE: Tom's place
WARNINGS: TBD, probably not
STATUS: Started in gdocs, continued in comments
The end of the world thing wasn't the first one Terezi had been through. Her home planet Alternia and the universe it resided in was long gone. Most of the trolls had perished. Only she and eleven other trolls had escaped, though a few of them didn't make it to the new universe.
This one was slightly different. She wouldn't be bringing anyone with her this time. Sure she'd see Karkat and Dave and everyone else again. She might get the chance to see Vriska, but she'd also be saying goodbye to Dagny, Vex, Klara, everyone. She'd be saying goodbye to Tom.
Thank jegus that didn't actually happen and she was still in Madison Valley. She would've loved to see her friends again, but this was her home now. And right now, she was at Tom's place, doing what she loved doing with him. Which was playing videogames and drinking red slushies and eating pizza.
"Haha, bang bang, you're dead, fucker!" she said as she shot someone in the game they were playing. Of course she was grinning maniacally as she smelled the pixel blood on the screen.

Tom was glad that things hadn’t ended here. He liked it here - a lot, and he wasn’t ready to leave just yet. Sure, back home wasn’t too terrible - he was super rich even if he was a monster - but stuff was always going wrong and he had a lot more trouble controlling his temper back home than he did here.
And here he had Terezi, which was a really good reason to want to stay. She was super awesome, and understood him in a way that Star never had. Maybe because she was kind of a monster too - or at least would have been classified that way in his world.
“Man! That was my last guy!” He said, but he really wasn’t that upset. He hadn’t lost on purpose - he never did that - but he wasn’t sad to see Terezi win, either. It made her so happy.

Terezi was glad Tom and everyone else didn't give her special treatment because of her disability. She hated it when people find out she was blind and can barely see, they always try to be more careful around her. Sure being told she was near to crashing into the wall was good, but she could take care of herself thank you very much.
She definitely liked that Tom never let her win at videogames. He played just like normal and she liked it that way. It just made her victories that much sweeter. "Haha!" she laughed, teasing. "Wanna go another round?"

It wasn’t in Tom’s nature to let anyone win. Heck, even when he’d beat Marco fifty-some times in Ping Pong (seriously, Marco was so bad), he’d never let him win. It had never crossed his mind. Partially because he was a demon and mercy didn’t come as second nature, but also because it didn’t seem like you were really winning if someone let you. It was more like they were losing and you had nothing to do with it at all.
He looked at the screen for a second, then back at Terezi.
“Sure. But let’s get some food first.”
***
Terezi still had to see just how bad Marco was at ping pong. She often wondered if she could beat him being blind and all. She usually could get the hang of things after trying them after a while.
But right now, food was more important. "Alright." She put the game on pause then stood up. "Lead the way, good sir," she grinned.
***
Tom was pretty sure she could. After seeing how bad he was, Tom was pretty sure that anyone could beat Marco at ping pong, blind or not.
Leading them downstairs, he opened the fridge and pulled out a couple packets of pizza bagels. He wasn’t even sure why they put them in packages of nine because that was definitely not enough.
He turned on the oven, then sat on the table, looking at Terezi in silence for a while.
“I’m glad we didn’t go home. I’m glad you’re still here.”
Tom wasn’t a guy who talked about his feelings much. So this was kind of a big deal.
***
Terezi followed him into the kitchen, sitting at the table while Tom grabbed the pizza bagels and started up the oven. They probably wouldn't be ready to eat for awhile but that was alright. Terezi was hungry but she could wait.
She nodded as Tom spoke. She knew he wasn't one to talk about his feelings. Hell, she wasn't either unless she was close to someone. And those people were only a few, both here and back home.
"Me too. I really would've hated seeing another universe end, even though I wouldn't remember it. But I'm so glad I woke up here. And that you're still here too." She was really happy for that. A world without Tom? That was something she wasn't sure she want any part of.
***
It was weird, talking about feelings with a girl. But it felt right, too, and he was discovering that it wasn’t quite as scary as he’d feared. Because Terezi was really, really cool and he liked her a lot so maybe it wasn’t so bad making himself a little bit vulnerable.
“Nobody should have to go through two Universes ending,” he said.
Things had been bad in his world sometimes...but never end of the Universe bad.
***
"It was pretty awful the first time." All because they just had to play that damn game. A part of her wished they never started it, but then the things that have happened since, the things she had went through, shaped her into the person she was today.
"But like I said, I'm glad it didn't happen again. And that I can still hang out with you. I really do like you. Actually, I think I might love you."
And once she had said those words, she became nervous and she turned her gaze away from him, even though she couldn't see his reaction anyway. She even covered her mouth and nose so she couldn't 'see' that way either.
