It was literally the end of the world...well the end of Madison Valley at least. Harley was unsure of how she felt about the idea of leaving the small town she’d spent almost a year in. Maybe it had been a year even, but it wasn’t as if Harley actually kept track or anything. Time didn’t matter to her too much; it took away from actually living your life and Harley was all about living it to the fullest. That’s why she’d spent the entire day out and about, drinking colorful cocktails, buying random garbage that she obviously could not take with her, and then finishing off a shift at the comic book store.
No, she hadn’t thought too hard on if she would miss anyone here because well she didn’t know anyone too well. Sombra maybe? Then there was Bats who could suck it in her opinion, Wonder chick who she’d avoided entirely since arriving, and…
“Kenny!” The blond exclaimed as she spotted the young man headed her way. She’d just locked up her shop for the night, but when she saw him, she dropped her keys and raised her arms, waving both hands in the air even though it would be impossible for him not to know where the greeting had come from. “Hey!” She bounced a bit as she greeted him, offering another wave even as he drew closer. “What’s up puddin?”

Kenny had been out walking about with really no particular destination in mind. For some reason, he just felt like taking a walk around town. Maybe because he felt too cooped up in the house and needed to get out for awhile. At least that's what he figured.
He was in town when he heard his name and he saw Harley up ahead. They had been good friends when she was here before, but then she left. She came back, but this time, they hadn't really spoken to each other. Sure they'd talked a few times and even had some fun at the Beltane Festival, but other than that, they hadn't interacted much since she came back. It sucked because he really did liked Harley. Now he might not get the chance to know her again because the world was ending.
But since she was here, he figured he could hang out with her for possibly the last time. "Hey," he greeted her. He still thought puddin was a dumb nickname but he decided to shrug it off today. "Nothing much. Just waiting for the end of the world. What are you up to?"
***
Kenny was one of Harley’s favorite people in town even if they hadn’t hung out too much or anything. She just simply got along with him easily and that was difficult for Harley with most everyone. Well, being crazy had that side effect, but Kenny just took her crazy in stride and even seemed to think along the same lines as her too. Knowing one of the rare people who got along with her was someone she would not see again? Well, that depressed her hardcore.
“Not much. Just closed up for the evening,” she replied, bouncing a bit as she talked. “Waiting for the world to end. I’m going to miss you, you know,” she blurted the last part out unexpectedly, but hey it was Harley and unexpected was what she did like half the time. Well, maybe more than half…
***
Kenny was used to Harley being unpredictable. Whenever she did or said something crazy, he just shrugged it off and even went along with it. But he was a little surprised at her outburst. "I'm gonna miss you too," he told her.
He hated this. Sure he accepted it, but that didn't mean he liked it. "We should go do something fun," he suggested after a moment. "Since this might be the last time we see each other." And he'd rather have fun than get all sad during his last moments with her.
***
And that was what made Kenny awesome. He was just so laid back about everything even her bouts of absolute insanity and she loved him for it. She would miss that when she went back home-well, she wouldn’t remember, would she? Aw, shit. That part sucked. She would forget all about him probably and that made her feel so much sadder.
At the suggestion though, Harley perked right back up and nodded quickly. “Hell yes. Let’s do something!” The blond exclaimed, jumping up and down rather childishly as she did so. “Anything in particular? We could go skinny dipping or go to the strip club? Do they have mini golf here?”
***
Kenny just sort of smiled as she jumped up and down. Her enthusiasm about everything was something he was going to miss. That and her lack of sanity. She was fun and unpredictable and that was just a few of the things he liked about her. Not many did, but then not many got his brand of humor either.
"I don't know if they have mini golf here, but we can always go to the strip club or skinny dip. Or hell, why not both? We can hang out at the club for awhile than go to the river and skinny dip."
***
“Strip club it is,” Harley replied, clapping her hands together childishly. “Then skinny dipping or vice versa.” She loved how she could amuse with her crazy antics and just by being her unhinged self a lot of the time. He could appreciate that and Harley was going to miss that. Though she had Mr. J back home, she did have any sorts of “friends”. Kenny was definitely someone she considered a friend.
“I’ll lead the way.” She slipped her arm through his and started down the street. “You know. I think you’re like the first friend I’ve had in a while…”
***
"Awesome," Kenny grinned, shaking his head a little at her behavior. It was one of the things he was going to miss about her. Sure other people maybe have found her childish and crazy antics a bit off putting, but he always thought that was what made her unique. Just like his morbid sense of humor. Not many got it but he always thought that was what made him, well, him.
As they walked arm in arm and when she told him about not having many friends, he frowned a little. "Really? That's kind of sad." And now he felt guilty for not getting to know her again after she had returned. He wished he had more time but he suppose he'd just have to make the most of it now.
***
At his frown, Harley felt bad. She thought it would make him happy to know he was like the first friend she’d had in a while. Maybe she should have kept it to herself. Of course then he asked if she was really telling the truth about that and Harley nodded her head. She had no reason to lie because she had nothing to hide about herself. Everyone knew who she was and what she’d done pretty much so what’s the point of hiding?
“Yep. I mean I have Mr. J, but that’s not the same as having friends,” she replied, shrugging her shoulders. “And a lot of people are not like you. I think I scare them away.”
***
"Man, now I feel bad for not hanging out with you more after you came back," Kenny said with a sigh. They had been such good friends before then, but this time around, not as much. He shrugged at the mention of Mr. J, who from what he heard, he didn't care too much for.
"Well, at least you know who your real friends are. If they're scared, then fuck them," he shrugged. They had made their way to the strip club, which he opened the door for her as they stepped inside. "I'm gonna miss this place too."
***
“Hey, no worries,” Harley replied shrugging her shoulders. “We’ll have a good time today and that’s what matters.” She knew she had been here before, but she only knew so much about that other “her” or whatever. It was difficult to picture another version of herself.
He opened the door to the strip club and Harley offered him a smile. “Me too,” she replied, stepping inside.
***
"Yeah, exactly," he nodded. It wasn't like he could turn back time and change things. Nor could he prevent the world from ending. All that mattered was the here and now, and right now, it was all about having a good time with Harley.
"I'm so glad Laura decided to open it up," he said as they headed over to the bar to get some drinks. He didn't drink often but end of the world and all. "I mean, I'd probably try open my own strip club eventually, but I'm not good at the whole business side of things." Yes, he did help out when he could because he wanted the club to be successful. But running the business by himself? He didn't think he could do that.
***
Harley ordered a fruity something or other and added in an umbrella for amusement and kicks. Taking a sip, she listed, nodding when Kenny talked about how he actually wanted to try and open up a club like this one. It was a cool idea and one Harley thought would actually suit Kenny even if he said he was not too good with the business side of things.
“Hey, that’s cool!” Harley replied. “I think you totally should. You could have a partner who could do the other half with the business stuff if you wanted.”
***
"Maybe," Kenny shrugged as he ordered a beer. Nothing fancy or anything. Just a simple drink. "I'll probably need someone to do that shit. I do know a person but I don't really like him."
The bartender gave them their drinks, which Kenny took. "C'mon, let's go watch the dancers," he said, grabbing her hand and leading her to a seat that was close to the stage so they could get a better look.
***
It was hard to believe that Kenny didn’t like someone given how friendly he seemed to be usually. The person must have been something else to make Kenny not like them. “Must be a real jerk face if you don’t like him,” Harley remarked, allowing Kenny to take her hand and lead her to one of the closer seats to the stage.
Settled into her seat, Harley chewed on her straw absentmindedly as she watched the dancers. “Man, I should of been up there…”
***
"He ate the skin off of the KFC chicken!" Kenny told her, still obviously feeling the betrayal of that. Yes, he was about nine when it happened, so it was a long time ago but still. The skin was the best part and it was rare that Kenny even had KFC. He had been looking so forward to it too. "Oh, and he killed this kid's parents and fed their remains to him, but the KFC thing? Fuck him."
He nodded as he watched. "You'd look hot on stage," he told her.
***
“Wow. Bastard. That’s the best part,” Harley remarked, shaking her head and taking a sip of her fruity drink. Who the hell did something so mean to someone else? “Well, if I met him, I’d hit him a good one with my bat for ya,” she added. Kenny was her friend after all or until Madison sent them home and she forgot all about him after.
“Sounds like he has some major issues,” Harley replied. “Like borderline psychotic shit. He should be locked up.” This coming from Harley was very hypocritical given what she’d done to more than a few people during her time on the crazy side of things.
“You think? Actually, I’ve been on stage a few times. Crazy as hell, but fun,” Harley replied, giving Kenny a wink before taking another sip from her glass.
***
"Good, he deserves to get hit by a bat and worse," Kenny said. He was convinced Cartman was some sadistic sociopath. The guy could be manipulative and cunning, not to mention he seemed like he really enjoys it when people are suffering. He'd laugh at Kenny dying a few times before.
"He's a fucked up guy, that's for sure," he said. "And I actually considered him my best friend at one point." He couldn't even remember why. But after awhile, he just kind of drifted apart from him.
"Totally," he nodded. "It is fun up there, isn't it?" That was another thing he'd miss - being up there. Oh well. There was a strip club back home, maybe he'd just get a job there. He turned to watch the dancers and it was fun and all, but soon they were done. "Wanna go skinny dipping now?" he asked.
***
It was weird to think of that sort of person as being Kenny’s best friend, but maybe he’d been a different person when he was Kenny’s best friend. Harley downed the rest of her drink easily. “It’s fun,” she remarked, nodding towards the stage. “I guess I’ll hit the stage again when I get back to Gotham and Mr.J.” Part of her felt a little sad about it again, but wish his suggestion, she pushed it away.
“Yeah, let’s hit the pool,” she agreed, standing and fluffing her pigtails. “Ready when you are.”
***
He finished off his drink, setting it down as he got up. "Alright, let's go," he grinned at her, grabbing her hand and leaving the strip club, possibly for the last time.
