Phryne was having one of those days where she was wandering the town on a whim. She didn't really have any concrete plans for the day, but she knew that she would probably be spending the evening and night with Merlin as had become quite their custom. For the first time in her life, however, she was not running from having any kind of attachment or a pattern with her schedules. Here, with Merlin, it was something that she was embracing quite joyously.

She had done some shopping while filing away ideas for interior decorating and she had also picked up a few bottles of wine.

Currently, though, those packages were stacked quite neatly in a chair near the door of her latest stop -- a chair at Hair Essentials.

If there was one thing that she still loved doing it was getting her hair done.

After all, it was one of those things that was both relaxing and artistic.

Plus, she just loved being pampered.

Sonya couldn't recall the last time she'd been to a salon; perhaps back when she first enlisted and some of the other women gone to get their hair done for a military ball. Between work and Cassie, her hair had grown down to the middle of her back, and usually she just wore it braided or pinned up, that was all she really had time for. She never really had the urge or desire to go and do anything drastic, but she'd been given a certificate for Valentine's day and seemed as good as any time to use it.

She headed inside and asked for an appointment, but the soonest opening was twenty minutes. Sonya gave her name and told her she'd wait.

When Phryne heard someone else enter the shop, she looked up from where she was sitting in the stylist's chair. The stylist was talking about something, but her voice was so low that she was mumbling and Phryne couldn't catch the whole thread of whatever story was being told to her.

Seeing Sonya, she called out to her and beckoned the empty chair that was in the station next to where she was being worked on.

"Sonya, my dear! Come sit over here with me!"

The greeting, it had to be confessed, took her by surprise. Sonya knew Phryne, atleast she did by name and the few times they've spoken, but she didn't think that was enough to be asked to sit and chat with her.

"Afternoon to you as well." She checked to see if anyone was really about to use the station; there hadn't, even if the place looked busy enough. With no reason not to, she sat down next to her.

	Phryne never allowed a minor thing like knowing each other for a long time get in-between her and speaking with people that she liked to consider her friends. "Busy," She allowed herself to lean back into the chair. However, there was still a sort of tension that wouldn't allow her to fully relax (just something she's learned to live with). "All the rain and wind we've been having, a lot roofs needing repairs." Which was great in terms of income, but it meant a full schedule. "Things really are busy when I start considering a break."

"What about yourself?" It had to be confessed, when she found that the woman was a nurse during the First world war, her interest was peaked. Military history was a weakness for her (second to chemistry), and even if Phrynee didn't wish to talk about it, there was still the interest.

"It definitely sounds like you need a break, my dear. Is it just you that does all of the work or do you have a crew that helps you do the repairs when they need to be done?"

Phryne didn't know much about construction -- just that she liked watching it at times and she enjoyed seeing the finished products.

"Things have been very good for me." That was probably understating how happy and content she was.

Truth be told, if she knew just how interested Sonya was in her war experiences, she would have no problems telling her all kinds of stories. She was proud of the work she had done even if she did have nightmares sometimes.

"I'm part of a crew," She said. "There's usually two of us on a job at a time." Especially for work that consisted of going ontop of roofs. Having to hold and keep supplies, not to mention keep an eye out for, was just easier with two people. "Most clients don't bother climbing on roof tops to lend a hand."

She smirked at the last comment, recalling Phryne doing just that.

"I think I recall you and my babsitter are dating." She definitely recalled Merlin mentioning that some time earlier.
