Who: Melinda May and Molly Walker
What: Chatting about serious stuff
Where: Super House
When: Saturday
Warning: Possible discussion of dark memories, but mostly low
Status: Closed/Ongoing

Melinda had kept her distance for a few days. She had some memories that were not her own. She knew they belonged to Molly. She also knew this meant Molly likely had some of her darker memories, including the one she didn't talk to most people about. She wanted to give Molly a chance to settle with it before Melinda stopped by. Enough time went by, though, that she felt she could check in with her...see how she was doing.

Molly's own memories were dreadful enough. Melinda really didn't like that the dome had to give her more bad things to think about.

She did let Molly know she was stopping by. She even brought Hinkles, even though Melinda herself wasn't a fan of fast food. She just wanted Molly to feel comfortable.

"How are you...dealing with things?" she asked gently once she was allowed in.

Molly had been through a lot of things that no one should have to go through, child or not. Watching her parents be murdered through the slats of a closet door, being held captive and almost dying more than once, being locked away in her own mind and everything else that had happened to her, that kept happening to her even here because this place was terrible sometimes, weren't things anyone should have to live through. She didn't know how she had.

"Yeah. But, you know. The bad things that happen to me are mostly because of my powers." People just wanted to exploit them, and Molly had only come to understand that in the last couple of years.

Melinda would have told Molly she got through it because she was strong and had a lot of people in her life who cared about her, who would always be here for her..as long as the dome allowed, at least.

"Powers or not, no one deserved to go through what you did." Least of all Molly. The memories were so vivid for Melinda. It was enough to get a bit of insight...and enough to know she wished she could have protected her from that.

"No, but I kind of get it. Like I kind of get why you saw so many bad things too. It was your job. It still just sucks."

Molly knew she was a stronger person because of it all, knew that she could handle everything that just kept happening because of everything. It was sad, though. And she hoped that she didn't see so much that she lost the little bit of light that she still had left.

"But remember why Grandma Suresh gave me my name?" she prompted. "She said it had to be Ujala. Ateet ko bulaane ke lie." To outshine the past. She had to be brighter than all the darkness around her. "So you have to do like she said too. Cause you know she'd be mad if we don't."

Melinda couldn't help smiling at that. She couldn't help but be proud of the young woman Molly had become, one who knew just the right thing to say in this situation.

"I think Grandma Suresh is a wise woman," she said with a slight nod. "I don't think I want to be on her bad side."

"Sure wouldn't." Molly just grinned. She always grinned through it, except for the times when she couldn't anymore. Her grandma had taught her a lot of things, a lot of really important things, like it was okay to be sad but she couldn't let it win. Molly had used that a lot of times since coming to Madison Valley. Every time something bad happened and it hurt too much and she just wanted it all to stop.

"So you'd better do what she says in case she ever shows up. Or I'll tell on you." That said, she decided it was the perfect time to just dive in for a hug. They could probably both use a hug right about now.

"Don't want that," Melinda said, still with a slight grin. "If she ever shows up, I hope to get along with her."

Anyone who helped care for Molly when she was going through such an ordeal was someone she wanted to know.

At this point, Molly was pretty sure no one from home was ever showing up again. She accepted that. And was pretty sure Melinda understood that feeling, with her memories.

"I hope so too," she just said simply, and moved to face the TV again. "Watch this show with me."

No way was her GrandMay interested in it but she'd watch anyway.

Melinda was oddly touched that Molly had hugged her and then asked her to stay and watch whatever she was watching on tv. She had no idea what it was. She was just happy to have some quality time with the girl who was like a pseudo granddaughter. That's what mattered here.
