Who: Mary Crawley (with baby Abigail) and OTA
What: A walk in the park
When: Saturday Jan 27
Where: The park
Warning: Probably none
Status: Ongoing
Mary was slowly getting back out into the public world after having Abigail several weeks before. She wasn't sure if her heart had ever felt such joy. This time was so much different from when she had had George. Matthew had died so shortly after his birth that it had tainted her early days as a mother with him. This time she had Ichabod, which meant that not only was she not grieving, she also had help with the baby. Mary didn't pass the baby off to servants to deal with while she lay in her bed in the dark, feeling as if the world was over. She was actually breastfeeding Abigail and doing a decent job with it. Who knew motherhood could actually be so joyous?
With Ichabod and George out running some errands of their own, Mary took Abigail to the park for a walk - some girls time. If the network was to be believed, then the town was up to its usual shenanigans. She hoped that none of it would touch either of them if they went out. She took the pram around all of the paths, glad to be up and getting some exercise. When she stopped at a bench, she picked the baby up out of the pram and wrapped her in blankets before holding her to her chest. It was warmer in the afternoon today, and the sun was out, but Mary still didn't want her to get a chill.
Abigail peeked up at her with her very blue eyes, the ones that reminded her of her husband, and Mary grinned. This time with her little girl made her feel possibly the happiest that she ever felt in Madison.
