Phryne was not fond of thinking overly much of everyone she had lost. The problem was that she couldn't stop thinking about them no matter how hard she tried. In the past, there had been a few ways that she would shake off the pain in her heart.
Her plane was missing. Her car was in Sydney. Her Absinthe was also in Sydney. She did not feel the desire to seek out the company of another man. So that left one thing.
Shooting.
Now, she had her dear, ever friendly and helpful handgun that had come to her aid and saved her skin so many times back home, but right now it wasn't enough. There was no challenge in handling the same thing that you were used to holding close to you day in and day out.
No, she needed something that would force her to focus on what she was doing and not let her mind wander down painful paths.
Which was why she found herself at the shooting range where she knew they rental weapons to be used on their property. It was a slight twist on what she was used to, but that was exactly what she and her mind needed right now.
If she focused on learning a new weapon, her mind would not constantly torture her with the memory of that last day and night spent with Merlin.
