Sydney was doing her very best to remain calm and logical about this situation. There was no reason to panic - it would do her no good. And if what she'd been told was indeed true, everything back home would stay as it was, and Adrian and Declan wouldn't even notice that she was gone. She hoped it was true, because she knew how very much Adrian needed her. The idea of him trying to make it on his own was worrisome, to say the least.
She was also curious about the science of this place. It was all together strange, entering areas of theoretical physics that she knew nothing or next to nothing about. Wormholes, wrinkles in space time, alternate dimensions...she'd read a few books but she could by no means call herself an expert.
She hadn't slept well last night, so when morning came, she'd gotten up, taken a shower, and made her way into town. She might as well explore, and discover what was in this town. It was best that she know what she was in for, for as long as she might be here.
It was a pleasant enough little town, really. The homes looked like they were from the early to mid nineteenth century, many of them kept in quite good shape. Main Street looked like the perfect place for a stereotypical fourth of July parade. Sydney had lived in small towns and large towns, and wasn't very particular about the details. This looked as good as any other.
Seeing a Starbucks, she breathed a deep sigh of relief and stepped inside for a blessed cup of coffee. No matter how bad this place was, having coffee made it that much better. She didn't care that she had to pay a ridiculous five dollars a cup - it was more than worth it.
She ordered a skinny vanilla latte, her face glowing as she took it in her hands and breathed in the delicious, caffeinated steam. Perfect.
