Even though it had been a week since Octavia had nearly killed him, Bellamy was still sore. Not sore enough that he was going to complain about it, but sore enough that eight o'clock found him at walgreens, looking at pain killers.
The selection here shocked him - it was so easy to come by something that people had died for on the Ark. He'd always known that his childhood had been one of deprivation, but he'd never really known exactly how much he'd been deprived until he'd ended up here in Madison Valley, and saw the world as it had been before. Honestly, he couldn't see what people had to fight over when there was just so damned much of everything.
He found some 'body ache' sort of pills and took them to the front, passing through the candy aisle as he did. He didn't even know what most of this stuff was. He'd had sugar so few times in his life that the taste was foreign, and he wasn't even sure he liked it. His first thought was to get something for Octavia - a treat of some sort for her. That was always his first thought, and it was with a sharp pang that he realized it really wouldn't be appreciated right now.
Octavia's feelings towards him at the moment came closer to breaking him than any of her attacks had done. No matter what she felt, no matter what she did, he would always love her. She was his sister, but in a lot of ways, she was more like his daughter. He doted on her as if she was, and he had done more to raise her than their mother had. She was dear to him in that way that only a daughter or little sister could be, and nothing was going to change that.
He only wished that he could convince her that he hadn't wanted Lincoln killed. He'd had nothing to do with it. Didn't she realize that? No matter how he felt about Grounders or Lincoln himself, didn't she realize that he would never have intentionally done anything that would have upset Octavia? Never. He didn't have it in him.
He couldn't blame her for blaming him, though. He'd made a mistake in following Pike, although he'd only been trying to do the right thing. Man, he'd fucked up on that decision.
He got in line, a bit surprised how long the line was this early in the morning, but it didn't matter. He had all day.
