Harry had no idea what he was doing. He was feeling rather nervous and unsure, but… well, in a way he had never felt more sure of himself in his life. He knew he liked Sybil and he wanted to see what happened. This was the most harmless of date type things. A simple stay in at her place with movie and cooking. A quiet night for two people who might just be friends, and might just have a chance to be more.
So he had arrived with ingredients, and with the movie choices, and he hoped she liked both his ideas for food and his ideas for movies. He felt a little like a teenager, he supposed, nervous and silly, buy also anticipating.
He hoped everything would be okay. He had dressed in a simple suit, well cut, but not too closely, and concealed blasting rod and a few other items in pockets, but left his staff in the car. This time. This was about introductions. And while magic would need to be discussed sooner or later, he was hoping for a more basic intro first.

Sybil had been rather nervous herself, but, it was a good sort of nervous. Her passionate self had picked quite the fight with her sister, saying that she deserved the chance to be happy since Tom had gone back home. Mary had found her happiness and so Sybil was determined to do just that. Even if it was just speed dating and whatever ensued afterwards.
She did have this attraction Harry and a harmless date seemed like it would be fun. Sure, it fell into the cliché of dinner and a movie. But it was in the friendly sort of way and if it progressed into more than that, then Sybil would be happy regardless as to how it unfolded. Sybbie was with a sitter, so Sybil was looking forward to time they could spend alone together.
And she eagerly opened the door for Harry. She had dressed up nicely for the occasion at hand. But still she hoped to make a good impression as she smiled and showed him the way into the apartment.
“It’s nice to see you again,” she admitted to him, looking forward to seeing how the evening would unfold.

Harry smiled as he saw her, eyes warm as they fixed to a spot at her shoulder, after taking in her very nice outfit. Her place was nice as well, and he smiled warmly. “It’s good to see you, too. I hope it’s been a good few days.” He held two bags that held food and a specific pot, as well as a few spices, and two movie choices.
He felt nervous, bouncy, and hopeful, all at the same time.
***
Sybil was really excited and of course, she couldn’t help but ogle and take in everything that was in front of her. Besides, there was no harm in that since he was quite an attractive man. “It has been, especially since I get to see you again,” she admitted to Harry, “I hope you’ve had a few good days too.”
She offered to take some of the food and the pot as well. “So, do we want to start with the dinner first or the movie? Since I am opening to either option.”
***
“Better, thinking of today.” He smiled as he handed things over. “Maybe start the food, first, and work on it together?” He nibbled one lip.
“Do you enjoy cooking?”
He headed for the kitchen, grinning.
***
“That sounds absolutely divine,” she admitted to him with a bright smile, “but yes, I love to cook. I learned a few recipes back home, but here I get to learn so much more.”
But she followed him into the kitchen. Glad that the small apartment would just be there for the two of them tonight. And thankfully for her, Ella was watching Sybbie.
“It was also part of the reason why I wanted you to surprise me with what we were going to make.” Besides, Sybil did love a good surprise.
***
Harry turned as they set the bags of food down and smiled at her, wishing he felt more confident. Her lips looked extremely kissable from here. He cleared his throat, cheeks a little pink. “Thank you. For trusting me.”
As he started pulling steak, eggs, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, fruit, sour cream, rosemary, paprika, and a few other spices out of his bags, he kept talking.
“I don’t know if I ever told you why I don’t meet your eyes. My world, and magic… are very odd sometimes.” And he wanted to tell her, now.
***
“Well, I’ll definitely have to have you pick what we make next time we make a meal together,” she told him, there was no if about it. And who knew, maybe a kiss would happen later in the evening since Sybil was rather fond of spontaneity. “And you’re welcome. I think any relationship needs a strong foundation of trust.”
Whether it be romance or friendship. She had started to pull out utensils, measuring cups, knives, bowls, whisks and the like when she heard what Harry said. And yes, it did surprise Sybil a little, but she took it in stride.
“I never knew that about you, but thank you for telling me,” she told him, not being the least bit sore over it, but rather comforting actually. “Maybe one day I’ll have to ask more about your world, but not tonight. Tonight, I just want it to be focused on the two of us.”
***
Harry smiled at her. “As you wish. I would cook with you, anytime.” He grinned at her, cheeks perhaps a little flushed. He was enjoying this way too much. She made him smile, and feel solid and strong, and… well, him. And that meant a lot. Winter rumbled down low, taking an interest in her closeness, and he shoved it down, calming and quieting it.
Harry smiled softly. “Thank you, Sybil. Thank you for being an amazing, honest, and beautiful woman.”
He started measuring out stuff, as he pointed out the recipes he had printed out, handwritten notes on each.
***
Sybil, too, was flushed at his comments and he had done the impossible and rendered her speechless. But the evening went as planned, since the two of them had helped to make a wonderful meal which tasted heavenly.
And then there was the movie that they watched and she deliberately made a point to curl up close to him. Just to make the date night feel even more intimate. But, alas, the evening had gone by too quickly and it was time for Harry to go home.
“We’ll have to do this more often, I had a wonderful time,” Sybil told Harry, but what she meant by ‘more often’ was the sooner, the better.
***
“I’d like that. I enjoyed tonight.” He reached out to hold her hands, squeezing them gently. “Thank you, Sybil, for tonight.” He grinned at her.
He nodded. “Maybe next week, or so?”
He found himself very, very close to her, and when the impulse struck, he didn’t fight the idea. With a gentle brush of his lips, slowly growing more solid, he kissed her.
***
“Next week sounds absolutely perfect,” Sybil had managed to say before Harry kissed her. Clearly, there was a spark, like fireworks and it made the evening worth it all the more. And it just fueled her desire to want to see him again. But she eventually broke away from the kiss and looked at him with a smile, her eyes glistening from everything.
“I will definitely be looking forward to seeing you again,” she told him, being brazen and flirty. Especially now. And she figured that she could repay the favor as she got on her tiptoes and gave him a goodnight kiss in return.
***
“And I, you. And if you will forgive my saying. To another one of those.” He groaned into the kiss, and gently touched her cheek, then stepped back.
“Good night, Sybil.” And he turned to go. Wow.
***
Somehow Harry groaning into the kiss made her wanting more. Maybe in the future that more would happen. Or so she hoped, since she was on an exhilarating high from the sparks she felt as she let herself bask in the moment.
“Goodbye, Harry,” she told him, giving him a proper wave before closing the apartment door. Next week could not come soon enough.
