The cold reminded Adamus of Alaska. That was a bittersweet thing to have on his mind. He hated it there, of course he did. How could he not? It was a prison camp, an internment camp where the remainder of his people had found themselves after losing the war. Of course, he had been pardoned and was there by choice, which made things slightly different. Still, he didn't feel right being free when the rest of his people were suffering, especially since he couldn't help but believe that they were the way they were only because of Setrakus Ra's blackmail. He had been determined to help them, which was why he had refused the pardon they'd offered him and gone to the camp.
People hated him there. His own people hated him. And Adamus couldn't blame them. He was, after all, the worst kind of traitor. And no matter how many times he told himself that he'd done the right thing, the fact that he'd betrayed his own people didn't go away.
He'd simply learned to accept it. It was what it was.
He hadn't been thinking about Alaska as much lately. He was settling in to this place, working diligently at his job. He was making a good wage, and living a fairly comfortable life. Mostly alone, it was true, but that was nothing new for Adamus. He'd even started trying out some new foods...becoming a little bit more adventurous than a typical Mogadorian. And more surprising than that, he'd even found that he liked them.
That was why he was standing in the frozen food section of Walmart, debating whether he should actually purchase the DiGiorno Garlic Butter Crust Supreme pizza. It had a lot of things on it that he'd never tried before, but he'd heard good things, and it looked so colorful and appetizing.
He reached in and grabbed it, and was reading the back when he heard a cart come down the aisle and stepped closer to the freezer to get out of the way.
"Pardon me," he said with a nod.
