A little while away from the baby was currently what Jemma looked forward to the most. Even just a half hour to pop out to the store or for a cup of tea, coffee was still out of the question and she’d never cared much for it anyway.. She’d been so ready, prepared for everything she could think of, and a lot that she hadn’t thanks to some research, and she adored her daughter more than anything that had ever existed. But after a month of being confined to the house, not wanting to leave her even for a moment and she was too small to be taken out about town for too long, Jemma was feeling the need for little breaks now and then.
It was good for the both of them, she reasoned, to stop herself from feeling like a terrible mother. She’d return to work one day and they would both have to be alright with that. Better to condition Eleanor early.
So she left the baby with Fitz and went for the short walk to have a few moments alone, having a seat in Starbucks with a small cup of tea and an interesting article about bioinformatics that she couldn’t really get into, as exhausted as she was, as distracted as she was worrying about the baby left at home.
Jemma looked forward to getting out for a minute, but once she did it, she didn’t actually enjoy it as much as she’d thought she would.
