She didn't seem street to him, and Briar liked to think he recognized a kid like himself when he saw one. He'd been ganged up, an orphan and a thief, and he'd been turned almost respectable. Warning her off being robbed just seemed like the right thing to do, and maybe some god would smile on him for the gesture.
