"That sucks. Sounds like most parents suck. But it's okay," he shrugged, the heavy darkening of his eyes and a weight in the air around him marking just how much it wasn't, "I mean, I've spent most of my life wandering here and there, you know? It's what I do. Never in one place too long." His voice was a strange combination of angry and wistful, as if he wanted to like what he'd been doing, and maybe some part did. But not all.
"Barrier?" He raised an eyebrow, then pinched the bridge of his nose as if he were getting some sort of headache. "So you meant it when you said we were trapped here." The darkness around him grew, almost in panic.
