Morpheus was out and about early, wandering the streets of Madison Valley, and feeling restless. It seemed to be his default most days. He knew it was because he was in the human realm and being in the human realm always made him feel rather uncomfortable. Itchy. As if he wanted to claw his way out of his own skin. It was difficult to contain most days. Oh Morpheus was indeed a little mad but being trapped here? Well, it made him feel down right crazy.

Even with Alyssa here, Morpheus struggled to find his bearings. His calling. His heart and soul loved Alyssa with every fiber of their beings but they also loved Wonderland too. He missed his home terribly.

Rounding a corner, hands shoved into the pockets of his trousers, Morpheus let out a sigh. His wings ached from being hidden. Perhaps a flight would make him feel better. He glanced towards the sky but his gaze was immediately drawn to a small green bird perched in a nearby tree. What?

It reminded Morpheus of something he would see in Wonderland. Curiouser indeed. He stepped closer, examining it further with interest.

"Are you fascinating then? Can't say I've ever seen anything like you around before."

Gar knew that he could just roam the place as a normal human being. Something that he didn't mind doing. That did not, however, mean he didn't want to explore the place a bit more. Even if it meant going as some other creature. He could still tap into the Red and he was grateful for that. So, he leaves a note for Dick to let him know he was going out.

He'd grabbed a backpack and put food in it. So, when he headed out near the patch of trees he hid and allowed himself to shift, clothes going into the pack. He doesn't fly too far away from it but does fly around before landing in a tree. His animal form is a bit unassuming save for the green color. There's a sound that he hears and those eyes look toward whomever the guy was.

Last thing he expected was some stranger. Of course, he cants his head watching the guy. No, I'm not like you've ever seen before. Not that he thinks the guy can hear him, but he didn't know who could hear animals and who couldn't. Or who could (or could not) read minds. That does not, however, mean that bird doesn't move from the branch for a moment watching the other.

Fortunately for Gar, Morpheus’ many talents did not include mind reading. Still, Morpheus wasn’t naive enough to assume that a bird of such unusual plumage couldn’t understand him. Creatures like that didn’t simply exist without purpose. And besides, he hailed from Wonderland, where the impossible was ordinary and the extraordinary routine. “Strange” and “unusual” were practically the national anthem. Expecting the unexpected was more than habit—it was survival instinct. If he hadn’t learned that lesson early on, he’d have been devoured, twisted, or turned into a tea kettle by now.

“I suppose it was too much to hope you could talk. Hold a conversation, maybe. Not that I mind.” He exhaled, casting a glance toward the other people on the street. “This place is too bloody loud most of the time anyway.”

He didn’t mind noise in and of itself—he thrived on chaos, so long as it had rhythm. Wonderland was loud, yes, but its clamor had cadence. Even madness, when it spoke, did so with meaning, with riddles nested in riddles. Here, though, people talked just to fill the air, their words floating like discarded wrappers, fluttering uselessly down grey streets. There was no music in it. No wonder the silence of the bird felt more like company than the voices of the passersby.
