WHO: Jason Grace and OPEN
WHAT: Doing a good deed
WHEN: Thursday, after school
WHERE: Not far from school
WARNINGS: TBD, probably low
STATUS: Open/Ongoing

Jason had finally started his senior year of High School. Back home, he would never make it this far, which made it a bit of a bittersweet fall for him. Still, he felt like he was doing something important, something that was worth something. He was still trying to figure out what he would be doing after high school, but he still had some time to figure that out.

He also still missed Kamala. It really seemed now like she wasn't coming back, which was more than a little heartbreaking. He had really started to care about her, and having her disappear like that had hurt. A lot. He wasn't really ready to find someone new yet, but he was starting to accept that she was gone. And it made him feel terribly lonely, especially since Piper had gone home as well.

He was walking home after school, his backpack slung over one shoulder. He had quite a bit of homework to do, and he figured he'd get it started as soon as he got home so that he could text Leo and do nothing for the rest of the evening. That was when he saw a little puppy running wildly down the road with a leash attached to it, and heard a small child laying on the ground screaming. He caught the puppy and lifted it in his arms, taking it back to the child who seemed to be more worried about his dog than about the scratches on his arms and knees.

"There you go," he smiled to the child. "No harm done."

He couldn't help it, he wanted to do something that helped people. It felt like it was what he had been made for, maybe to make up for all the harm his father had caused.

Kayla didn't have classes today, and no shifts at either job. Did she need two part-time jobs? No. Absolutely not. The teen liked working for her aunt at the art store, though, and for her cousin's restaurant. Learning to cook Creole food differed a lot from the more classical French cuisine she'd learned back...not home. Home was here with her dad and the rest of the family.

And so she found herself on her second run of the day. As she turned the corner, Kayla heard the noises, but a blonde guy seemed to be saving the day. Briefly the brunette panicked thinking she'd have to talk to Lo. Their breakup had hurt her, but she'd needed the time and space to work through everything. A relationship, or even being touched outside of the few she trusted, sounded awful to her.

But she relaxed a bit when she realized it wasn't Logan. Instead she smirked at the other teen. "Nice save, Hero."

Jason hadn't realized that he was being watched. Not that it would have changed what he did in any way, but it was a little embarrassing. He wasn't the sort of guy who wanted accolades, but just to do the right thing when he was called upon to do so.

"Thanks?" He said, his cheeks flushing to a bright pink. "I mean, it wasn't much, really." He'd just caught the dog and made sure that the kid wasn't hurt. Anyone would do that, wouldn't they?

"I'm Jason," he said, since he didn't know the girl, and it was the polite thing to say. He'd been called a hero before, but in a different sense...the ancient Roman sense, which meant little more than him being the son of a god.

Kayla hadn't intended to watch. But she did plan her running route beforehand, and so she came across the blonde with the puppy.

The flush made Kayla inwardly shut down, not intending to embarrass anyone, so instead she shrugged, smirk remaining on her face. "I would have done the same thing."

At the introduction she nodded, having seen him around this place. "Kayla. I've seen you around." The teen made no move to shake a hand or anything, as that would include touching someone she didn't know and...no. Just no.
