Pogue had been preparing for this night for what seemed like forever. However, now that it was here he found that he was nervous as hell. He was worried that something would go wrong. His ascension was important to him but part of him worried that something would cause him to fail and he wouldn't be able to reach out and embrace his full well of power.

However, every time he started worrying about that, all he had to do was look at Caleb. His leader, his partner, and his love.

They had already survived a great deal and Caleb had no worries about Pogue's ascension. He had managed to find a secluded spot in the woods and made sure to have plenty to drink and even something to eat for when it was finished. He had warned Pogue that after it was over he would be exhausted, but also thirsty as hell.

Caleb led them out to the designated area when night fell and Pogue took off his leather jacket. It was his favorite one and he didn't want to take the chance of it getting destroyed tonight.

Caleb knew what it was like to ascend on one's eighteenth birthday. It's something that he, himself, had done and it had hurt. Though, it hadn't helped that he'd been attacked by Chase either. The man had wanted him to will him his power. Hell... his own old man had willed him his power. Something that was dangerous for someone to do. It left the person powerless and he couldn't picture something like that.

He knows, too, that Pogue was starting to worry a little. It was something that he'd been doing everything in his power to soothe. There was no need for that kind of worry.

When they did head out toward the woods, to a secluded area away from everyone, he made sure to have water and a basket of fruit. A bit of food for after the other's ascension. He was going to make sure the town was protected and make sure Pogue was at the same time. If that meant using his own powers to keep the power contained then he'd do it.

After Pogue removes the leather jacket he takes it and slips it on. No need to lay it out on the ground or anything. Not that he, himself, really did leather but he didn't mind wearing his partner's jacket. The elder Ipswich boy gives him a soft smile before moving to lean against a tree as he watches his right hand.

"Everything's going to work out and you'll a lot better, connected even, after this."

When it came to him ascending, Pogue wasn't really worried about getting hurt. He was prepared for that. His worry was that somehow his ascension could hurt other people; could hurt Caleb. He knew that his boyfriend wasn't worried about that, but Pogue would always worry about something hurting Caleb. Why would he stop doing that now?

He looked around the area that Caleb had guided him to and he couldn't help but give a small smile. It was well secluded from outsiders and it was far enough from town that no one would just stumble upon them if they were out. He wasn't the least bit surprised that Caleb had been able to do this much planning.

He prowled the area for a moment, definitely feeling like a jungle cat as the power seemed to build under his skin. He thought he was prepared for how he would feel before he actually ascended, but he hadn't been close.

He looked at Caleb and gave him a faint smile. "I've never felt my power making my skin feel this tight before."

Unlike Pogue, Caleb wasn't worried about the other hurting him. Not when he could stop his best friend, his boyfriend, from harming him if it came down to that. The other didn't have to worry about things like that anymore. Even when he knows that Pogue wasn't bound to stop worrying over him. That? It would forever be one of the best traits of Pogue.

The area that he guides him to is well away from civilization. Far away from town that no one would be able to bother them. On top of that? He didn't plan to let anything or anyone cause a scene or stop this from happening. Last thing that he wanted to do was lose the other half of his soul. His right hand. Someone that he found he loved with everything he was.

Caleb shoves his hands into the pocket of the leather jacket he'd put on. If the other didn't want the jacket messed up then it was best it stay where it was, right on the elder witch. That faint smile gets a smile of his own. Especially when the other says that.

"It's exhilarating."

Even as he says those two words he allows his eyes to go black and a force is placed over the area. No one would be able to see them or feel what was going on. No one would be coming out to them.

"To protect you and the town."

Pogue had to admit that his leather looked good on his boyfriend, even though that was not the reason that they were up here.

He had never felt his power affecting him like this. He nodded when Caleb responded to his comment. "It is. That's a good way to describe how this all feels."

He prowled around in a circle again, not even feeling the bite of the cool air against his skin. He turned his head when he felt Caleb's power brush against him and he smiled faintly when Caleb explained what he had just done. That made sense and it also didn't surprise him that Caleb had had the mind set to think of the protection of the town while all of this was happening.

"I know that yours happened in a much different way, but did you get to enjoy any of it?"

Pogue was making conversation for as long as he could because he felt the power pulling at him and he wasn't sure how long it would be before he couldn't form words for a little bit. He didn't want to admit it, but he was a little concerned about the Ascension causing him to lose control of everything for a few moments.

No, they did not come out here just for Caleb to steal Pogue's jacket and wear it. They were there for a completely different reason. One that would hit at a very specific time.

It amuses him, really, the way that Pogue prowled around in a circle. The way his boyfriend was doing that made him think of a predator stalking its prey. Neither of them were predators but they were powerful. Well... he, himself, was more powerful than the other but still. The other would be powerful too. Not near as powerful as him but that was alright.

"No, unfortunately, I was too focused on fighting."

Chase had done a number on him but he'd done a number back. Of course, he'd ascended and his father had willed him his power too. So there had been this amazing feeling running through his body but he hadn't really been able to enjoy it.

"I know when mine was, but yours might be different."

After all, he'd ascended at 11:18pm which was the time he was born. Pogue would probably be a good five or ten minutes after.

"Not long now."

Pogue would never consider himself a predator -- and hoped no one else innocent would see him as such. He firmly believed that his power should be used for fun and to protect others not harm them. He only ever wanted to use his power against those that deserved it.

Pogue shook his head. "I'm sorry for that. I should have been there with you. You should have been able to feel this."

It wasn't his fault, obviously, but that was something that he would never be able to let go of. He should have been at Caleb's side for that large battle, but Chase had put him into the hospital and he had been close to death before Chase had been defeated by Caleb.

Pogue wasn't born too long after Caleb. It was one of the reasons that they had been so close from the beginning.

"I can definitely feel it getting it closer."

"Don't be. You've got no reason to be sorry."

The other couldn't have been there for the fight even if he'd wanted to be. Chase had made sure the others were out of his way. That people wouldn't be able to come help him. So, the other didn't need to be sorry.

He knows that Pogue hadn't been born too long after he was and knows that the power would show soon.

"It's going to hurt a bit but you can handle it. It'll feel good in the end."

He, of course, planned to keep them both contained within the bubble that he'd created to protect Madison and the people. As well as keep them both concealed from the world.

"You know that's not how it works with me." He gave his boyfriend a crooked smile.

No matter what lengths Chase had gone to in order to isolate Caleb, if Pogue hadn't been in a coma, he would have been there at Caleb's back no matter what condition he was in. It was something that even Caleb's orders wouldn't have changed.

He turned to say something to Caleb but he felt like something had struck him -- only from the inside. His eyes turned black as he looked at Caleb, trying to see through the power that seemed to be tightening around him.

Caleb hadn't been kidding. The amount of power that was coursing through him hurt more than even his motorcycle accident had hurt. It felt like his body was being torn apart and rebuilt just as fast.

"I know it isn't."

Caleb, unfortunately, knew that Pogue would've done anything and everything in his power to be at his side. To fight Chase along with him. Even if it wasn't their power that the eldest boy had wanted. No, he'd wanted his and he hadn't given it to him. Nor would he ever will his power to anyone. The only way that would happen is if Pogue or someone he cared a great deal for was dying.

"Don't fight it, Pogue. Just let it flow through you."

The last thing he wanted was for the other to be in too much pain but he knew that his hurt. He just hoped that it wouldn't last too long. After it subsided he'd make sure they sat down for a while to eat and drink some water. They'd go home some time afterward.

Pogue would do almost anything for Caleb and he knew that the feeling was mutual. He would use himself or his power to protect Caleb and that was just the way it was and how he felt about it.

He would never ask or expect Caleb to will his power to him. Hell, the thought would never even cross his mind no matter how dire his circumstances. It wouldn't even be on his radar.

Of course, the only thing on his radar right now was the power that seemed to be changing everything about him and the voice of Caleb outside of his range of vision. He tried focusing on Caleb's voice and found that he could control how much of his mind was lost to the pain.

When the pain changed to sudden pleasure, Pogue was just as surprised, but he was able to relax more as he felt his body start accepting the new expansion of his power. After a few moments of feeling all of this, he dropped to his knees and closed his eyes.

"Wow," he whispered. "Wow."

He felt that was a good word for it.

He just wanted to sit here for a while with Caleb and just rest.
