Better than what isn't stated, but my personal theory is Mad Gods. We're playthings in the hands of powerful beings who like to treat us as toys, and see how we react to their various games. Fortunately they don't seem to be actively malevolent; the games are rarely deadly. Sometimes cruel, though.

There is no monarchy here. The way the people dress... it is drastically different. And these devices! They run on magic? They are quite different.

Wow, so well fuck is a curse word normally not used in polite company. In this instance, fuck is all about being an exclamation of annoyance or contempt. But it can also mean to screw or have sex.

Fuck's way versatile.
