K-Mart was not loving life at the moment. Clint and Nate were gone, which sucked because by this point, Clint had become a friend. Ianto was gone, which sucked because really, as far as people the town could've made her think she was married to? He'd been awesome. And Ianto's being sent home was even worse, because she knew how Madison Valley had been his last chance at life.
But it wasn't all bad -- for one thing, it was kind of freakin' impossible to stay in a bad mood around Christopher. For another, she did still have most of her people. And after yet another inventory of her people, she'd started settling a little. Still wasn't loving life, but was at least not worrying about losing anyone.
No, she was worrying about the more mundane things in life, like how long had that cough syrup been shoved at the back of the cabinet and was that salad really supposed to be that color and what was that weird smell in the laundry room. Because that was the kind of shit that happened when you were a responsible adult.
Or were at least doing a really good job of looking like one.
She was doing the grocery shopping at like eight-thirty at night because seriously, like she wanted to deal with people half the time. And because Walmart was a problem on a good day. She'd even remembered to write a list and actually bring it, which was a pretty solid step up from most days. Of course, this also meant there was the inevitable moment of realizing she'd forgotten something three aisles ago, turning to go get it, and nearly running somebody over with her cart.
"Hey," she greeted Daniel with a laugh. "God, sorry about that. It's been one of those days."
