There were holidays in this world that did not make any sense to Lan Wangji, but the idea of a day dedicated to showing the one you love how much you care about them was one that he had liked the sound of. He and his husband had spent a nice time with their brothers at the Valentine's Day film festival that Lady Melinda had hosted for all of them, but for tonight, it was just him and his husband. He believed that Xichen and Jiang Wanyin were likewise spending the night alone together. He had not wanted to spend too much time cooking dinner because he knew that he would become distracted as soon as his beloved husband arrived home. Instead, he had ordered food from Empress of China and transferred it into some of their favorite dishes. He had also purchased a bottle of a chili oil he had discovered at one of the shops in Madison Valley and something called Sriracha that upon the first scent smelled spicy enough to please his husband. He had also purchased something that he promised himself to taste with Wei Ying... chocolate with red chilis inside it. This place did indeed have quite a bit of interesting taste combinations and foods. He had considered it a nice thing to share Empress of China with Jiang Wanyin for his dinner with Xichen because Wen Kexing deserved the business he would get from them all. As much as he was loathed to share a friend's specialties, he could not prevent Wen Kexing from making money at his place of business just because Lan Wangji did not want to share. He hoped that Jiang Wanyin understood the sacrifice he was making by doing this. He set the music disc player to play as he took down his hair and combed it until it was as free and soft as his husband enjoyed it and then knelt at the table to wait for his beloved to arrive. |
