Who: Alyssa, Kol, and Damien
What: Kol tries to compel Damien to forget Alyssa. It goes REAL WELL.
Where: outside
When: Dec. 21st
Warnings: some swearing. Brief mentions of past trauma. violence.
Status: g-doc

Alyssa texted Kol and asked if he’d grab lunch with her at Hope’s restaurant. She had most of her shopping list done, but she wanted to get a few small things for the Mikaelson siblings she didn’t know as well and needed another idea or two for Bex. Hopefully Kol could help…ish. Things had been a little off between Kol and Alyssa since she finally told him he could compel Damien to forget her. Even if Alyssa hated the idea, quite a bit, the Netherling knew Kol did it because he loved his sister. And, given everything Kol had done for her, she felt like she couldn’t deny him this.

At least he’d been nice enough to bring her all kinds of sugar the other night. Alyssa waited outside for Kol, finding the cold air refreshing today as they neared closer to Christmas. When she saw Kol, Alyssa waved before she walked over to hug her brother. “Hey…so is it wrong if I get beignets for both an appetizer and a dessert?” she joked as she pulled away.

Kol knew Alyssa was mad at him. Despite the sugar he’d given her the night before, Kol knew his compelling Damien was not something that Alyssa was going to get over any time soon. Unfortunately for her, Kol wasn’t about to let that deter him from protecting her from the other vampire. It was bad enough that she allowed Damien to feed off of her, but then she’d taken the vampire’s blood and it made her ill. No, that was the final straw. It was clear that Damien was toxic to Alyssa and that they shouldn’t be together…even in a ‘no strings attached’ capacity.

It went against every fiber of his being. Yes, he wasn’t perfect when it came to his own coping mechanisms, but Alyssa allowing Damien to feed off of her was possibly the epitome of what a bad coping mechanism was. It was best Kol put a stop to the situation now before it got even worse…even if Alyssa was upset at him for a time.

But at the moment, his focus was on having lunch with Alyssa and helping her with ideas for presents for his siblings. Kol wasn’t sure how helpful he would be in picking something out for Elijah, but he would do his best to come up with an idea to help Alyssa out. The only thing he could think of would be to find a way to remove the stick from his brother’s ass, which was far easier said than done.

Spotting the blond, Kol offered his sister a cheeky smile and quickly closed the distance between them. Alyssa pulled him into a hug and Kol returned it gently before stepping back and offering her his arm. “You might get a few odd looks, but seeing as you are used to those, I say you shouldn’t worry about it,” Kol teased in return as they started down the sidewalk.

While Alyssa wouldn’t say she was angry, she did feel some animosity towards Kol’s decision. But, she didn’t want it to affect Christmas nor did she want to be upset with Kol. Her life worked a lot better when they got along. Alyssa thought, inwardly, that Elijah might benefit from getting laid. Which also seemed easier said than done.

Nobody could say Alyssa possessed healthy coping mechanisms. Being a creature from Wonderland pretty much ensured healthy coping mechanisms didn’t happen for her. But, inwardly perhaps a little of Kol’s worry filtered into her brain. More that she worried what any vampire blood would do to her.

“The only thing on the list for Elijah is to get him laid and I really don’t want to be involved in that, even if I think it might loosen him up a bit.” After all, she’d discussed the whole stick up Elijah’s ass with both Bex and Kol.

She stuck her tongue out at Kol and laughed, her arm linking into her brother’s. “Somehow I think that would cause the fewest amount of looks.” As they started to walk, Alyssa felt some of the tension leave her body. “I was thinking of a small painting of Cami for Klaus, but I really don’t want to hear your brother tell me how untalented I am. Because you know he will.” She’d been facing her brother as they walked, and when she looked in front of her to make sure she wouldn’t walk into anything, Alyssa noticed Damien. Without even thinking, a small fuck left her mouth. Given her brother could probably hear her swear from three houses away, she didn’t exactly expect it to go unnoticed by Kol.

It took everything in her to hold herself together, but Alyssa didn’t drop her brother’s arm. “Hey.” What? Alyssa didn’t want to be rude.

“What? You don’t have any friends you could volunteer as tribute?” Kol teased, poking his sister playfully in the arm. Truthfully, Kol didn’t want what was going on with Damien to ruin Christmas either. More importantly, he didn’t want it to ruin their relationship. He loved Alyssa like a sister and he didn’t want that to disappear all because some jackass showed up in town. A jackass that thought he was good enough to sink his fangs into Alyssa’s neck. Compelling Damien would assure that didn’t ever happen even though Alyssa might be upset with him for a bit.

To keep her safe, it was worth her being mad at him.

“I don’t know. A girl with wings eating beignets for an appetizer and dessert. That’s a pretty weird combination if you ask me. Hey, maybe we could record you doing it and put it on Youtube? You could have your own channel.” With her arm firmly in his own, Kol instinctively pulled her close as the two started down the sidewalk. Oddly, enough Kol found himself starting to relax too, falling into the easy rhythm the two of them possessed when around one another. “My brother is a dick, love, but I’m sure Cami would adore a picture of the two of them together.” Klaus was unpredictable and had a knack for liking to rile people up. Get a reaction. No doubt he would say something just to see Alyssa become flustered or angry. “So I say just do it and if he says anything, I’ll tell him to go fuck off.”

Before Alyssa even uttered ‘fuck,’ Kol smelled the other vampire; his expensive cologne mingling with the scent of cigarettes was impossible to ignore. Chocolate brown eyes landed on the fucking Damon Salvatore lookalike and Kol inwardly groaned. Of course it had to look exactly like one of the people Kol despised with every fiber of his being. Alyssa’s saying ‘fuck’ only solidified Kol was looking right at the person he needed to compel. So why not do it now?

Alyssa remained glued to his side as they approached and eventually intercepted the other vampire. Kol put on his trademark smirk as Alyssa greeted Damien.

“If it isn’t the prick that put his filthy fangs all over my sister,” Kol greeted coldly, eyes darkening, and the original vampire released the blond, stepping in front of her and practically shielding her from Damien’s gaze.

Normally, Damien didn’t venture from his bed till well after sundown. Unfortunately, some things could only be taken care of during the day. Unlike in Midnight, no one catered to vampires around here, even if they were as powerful as Damien Duval. So, the vampire was stuck doing his errands during the day and hating every minute of it. At least it was overcast, but Damien still felt weakened, drained, and the sooner he fell back into bed, blackout curtains in place, the better.

And then he smelled Alyssa. His blue eyes snapped up from his phone and landed on the blond who was in the company of another vampire. No doubt it was the infamous Kol. Her overprotective, slightly psychotic brother. Not surprising, the two of them noticed Damien and even if Damien wanted to avoid the situation, he was trapped now. Of course, even feeling as he did, Damien didn’t want to avoid the situation. He didn’t like people telling him what to do no matter how powerful they might be.

In seconds they were upon him, Alyssa actually offering him a “Hey.” It was amusing to think only seconds before she’d uttered “Fuck” with that cute mouth of hers. He couldn’t blame her. What was about to happen deserved a lot more than a “Fuck” to describe it. Kol was already stepping in front of Alyssa and insulting him. There was no avoiding the obvious now. Kol was going to attempt to fight him.

“Hello, fée fille,” Damien greeted ignoring Kol even as the other vampire invaded his personal space. He could tell Kol didn’t approve of the nickname he gave his sister. Apparently, he understood French too. Great. Maybe he should start speaking Greek instead.

“Eyes here, mate.” Damien’s gaze flickered back to Kol’s brown eyes and his blue eyes illuminated, visible even in the daylight. As soon as their gazes met, Damien knew what Kol was trying to do. Why? Because Damien had compelled many people in his lifetime and that was exactly what Kol was trying to do to him. But, how?

“You will forget you know my sister. You will forget the time you spent together. And you will stay away from her.” Kol’s words echoed in his ears, but the desired effect? It didn’t happen. Apparently, compelling vampires in Kol’s world was a thing, but Damien wasn’t a vampire from his world. It didn’t work.

Instead, Damien barely managed to control the urge to laugh in Kol’s face. Hell, he barely managed to control the smirk that tugged at his lips.

“Are you alright, mate?” Damien asked, coldy. “Because it looks like from where I’m standing that someone is having performance issues.”

Alyssa wrinkled her nose at Kol and playfully smacked him as they walked. “Sorry. I’d like them to still be my friends afterwards,” she teased. “I don’t have anyone I’m willing to sacrifice to this particular cause. Shockingly, none of my friends look like Hope’s mom.” It did not take a fucking genius to know that Elijah loved Hayley a lot. This felt normal and Alyssa relaxed further.

“Somehow I think wings and beignets might not be enough for my own YouTube Channel. What about Will Alyssa actually win a video game against her brother? Tune in next week where the answer will probably be no. Maybe I’ll just eat really weird food combos.” She considered Kol’s words. “I’ll make a small one for Cami. Klaus can bite me, except not literally because no thank you.” Anyone related to Kol and Bex fell firmly in the too close to family for her liking, thanks.

When Kol started talking and pushed Alyssa back behind him, she knew what would happen next, even as she felt Damien’s blue irises on her. The Netherling didn’t miss Kol’s dislike of Damien’s nickname. Perhaps because it ventured rather close to Kol’s fille papillon. Alyssa sort of assumed all of the Mikaelson siblings recognized a majority of languages and spoke them, especially Kol, given how many spells hadn’t been written in English. He might not be a witch any longer, but Alyssa knew he still loved magic.

Somehow…Alyssa never considered that Kol’s compulsion wouldn’t work. She just assumed he’d utter his words, as an Original, and then she’d continue with her day and try to avoid Damien, so as to not wreck the compulsion. When Kol failed at compelling Damien, she felt slight relief, but also fear. Kol did not like when things didn’t go the way he wanted. Alyssa might be behind her brother, but she recognized the tone in Damien’s voice and winced on behalf of Kol. She did the only thing she could think to do and gently tugged on her brother’s arm, avoiding looking at Damien for the moment, which wasn’t difficult given Kol still stood behind them. Best to focus on Kol and get out of this situation before it got worse. “Come on. You’re supposed to be making fun of me for the amount of beignets I’m about to consume, darling brother of mine.”

The bloody compulsion didn’t work. For some fucking reason it didn’t affect Damien. The other vampire was looking at Kol, irises flashing bright blue in clear amusement at Kol’s failure. Anger bubbled up within the Original and Kol’s chocolate brown eyes narrowed. He was vaguely aware of Alyssa’s gentle tug on his arm, of the words she spoke in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but it was too late. It was too late the moment Kol’s compulsion didn’t take. If he couldn’t compel Damien, he would just have to kill him.

“I’m sorry, Alyssa. I am. But the compulsion clearly didn’t work and there is only one way to get rid of him now.” Kol’s arm shot out, hand aiming to wrap around Damien’s throat, but the other vampire used his supernatural speed to dodge the attack, coming to a stop a few feet from the pair. Damien wasn’t stupid; he knew Kol was older and stronger. But unfortunately for him, Kol was also faster.

Kol blurred in front of Damien and pinned him up against the wall of the nearest building by his throat. The other vampire winced as he back slammed into the bricks, but he was only momentarily stunned. A pale hand came up and grabbed Kol’s wrist, fingers working to pry Kol’s from around his neck.

While Kol controlled his violent nature well, in the heat of a fight, his lust for violence and blood surfaced. The Original chuckled coldly. “Try all you want, mate, but I’m stronger than you are. I have what? More than five centuries on you I bet.” Kol leaned in and sneered at the other vampire. “You don’t stand a chance against me and if you don’t swear to stay away from Alyssa here and now, I’m going to rip your heart from your body and throw it away like trash.”

Damien managed to dodge Kol’s first attack, but then the vampire used his own speed to pin elder Duval to the wall, a hand locked around his throat. It hurt, but being a vampire, Damien recovered quickly and immediately tried to pry Kol’s cold fingers from around his neck. Not surprising the original was already gloating, believing that Damien was done for. It wasn’t the first time someone had threatened to kill him and it wouldn’t be the last.

“Don’t you ever get tired of hearing yourself talk?” Damien managed to pry one of Kol’s fingers from around his throat and snap it like a twig. Kol winced, momentarily loosening his hold, and it was enough for Damien to break free and use his speed to put distance between himself and Kol. Right now, he really wished Bran was here; if he was, they might have been able to take Kol down simply by tag teaming him. Unfortunately, Damien was flying solo right now and being that it was daylight, he was far from at his full strength and Kol wasn’t deterred from a simple broken finger.

Before Damien could react, Kol was in front of him and the two immediately started to trade blows. For his part, Damien dodged and even managed to land a few of his own before Kol had him on the ground. The coldness from the concrete seeped through the material of his jacket, blood dribbling from a wound on his lip, and Kol glared down at him with crazed brown eyes and a manic expression on his face.

“You have bad breath and you talk too much. For an old one, you lack manners too. You’d kill me in front of your own sister. You’re one hell of a psychotic son of a bitch.” Damien struggled, but Kol had him pinned on the ground, a knee in his chest and the branch of one of the nearest trees, pressed against his chest.

“And you’re a slippery son of a bitch, but here we are. I’m going to stake you now. Enough bullshit,” Kol snapped and he pressed the edge of the branch into Damien’s chest. The other vampire’s face contorted in pain, but Damien wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of screaming.

Alyssa knew how fucking badly this would go when Kol shook her off. He might do that to other people, but never to his little sister. She considered screaming Allison’s name. But, Alyssa would not give up the name of Kol’s human girlfriend to any vampire, hot or not. Especially not in this situation.

She considered her options. They all sucked. But, the Red Queen drew in a breath and closed her eyes. The Netherling called on every bit of life magic, every little iota of her ties to Wonderland. The Dome might be experiencing winter, but every dormant flowers’ and plants’ roots and leaves acted as though spring popped up suddenly. Even if the flower existed five blocks away, its roots found themselves where Alyssa commanded them. Some yanked Damien to his feet, but still unable to move, while the others pulled Kol about two meters away, strong enough to hold the vampires in place. A glimmer of a crown’s outline could be seen over Alyssa’s head and for the first time ever in Madison, Alyssa used her Red Queen voice; the one that could even make Morpheus weary.

“ENOUGH! YOU HAVE BOTH DONE ENOUGH!” She stared at Damien, a wildness found in her blue irises. “Go home. Please.” Alyssa would text him later. To Kol she stated, with the same look in her eyes, “I am not about to bloody deal with your rather angry girlfriend because you killed someone in front of me no less.” The grips from nature only tightened around both vampires until they agreed to her terms. She took some tentative step towards her brother, the magic surging through the queen.

The first hint Kol had that something was going on was the sound of the roots moving through the earth beneath him. It sounded like thunder. From the startled look on Damien’s face, Kol could tell he heard it too. “What the-” Suddenly roots broke through the ground, wrapping themselves around Kol’s waist and yanking him off of Damien. A shocked expression appeared on Kol’s face as the roots dragged him away from the other vampire and came to a halt two meters away.

It was then that Kol finally looked over at Alyssa, noting the hint of a crown glowing above her head. Bloody hell. He recognized the look from his time in Wonderland with Alyssa, where she ruled as the Red Queen. The sight, as well, as the roots tight around him, sobered Kol quickly and his gaze shifted over to Damien who no longer looked startled. He had to give it to the other vampire; Damien had a good poker face. It was hard to tell if he was looking at Alyssa with awe or something else entirely. Though, even from Kol’s vantage point, he could see Damien’s sapphire eyes glowing a bright vampire blue.

Chocolate brown eyes shifted back to Alyssa, but before he could open his mouth, she was shouting at both of them that they’d done enough. Her wild eyes shifted to Damien first, telling him to go home, before they fell on Kol. To his credit, Kol didn’t look away from his sister, but her words cut deep. Yes, he’d been about to kill someone and in front of her. He hadn’t cared because when it came down to it, Kol would always be a killer first. The Original was attracted to violence as surely as he was magic. He was the worst of the worst for a reason. Today, he’d just proven it all over again.

“I’m sorry, love,” Kol said softly. “I lost control.”

While having Kol off of him was wonderful, being pinned to the ground by a bunch of roots wasn’t. Damien’s blue eyes snapped to Alyssa, irises glowing, and in his world, when a vampire looked at you like that, it was better that you walk, not run away. Even faced with a Queen screaming at him, Damien, much like Kol, didn’t look away. Despite being annoyed, Damien kept his expression neutral. Vampires in his world were well-versed in playing their cards close to the chest.

It was starting to feel as if entering into the pact with Alyssa was a bad idea. It had nearly gotten him killed and now he was being pinned down by roots. It was better than being dead, but still placed him in the role of prey. It wasn’t where any creature, especially a vampire like Damien, wanted to be. He could actually appreciate Alyssa stepping in because it saved his life, but it was more like just putting a band-aid on a fatal wound. There was little stopping Kol from coming after Damien again when Alyssa wasn’t around.

At her words, the eldest Duval brother merely nodded. He wasn’t in a position to argue. Much like his brother, Damien hated a situation in which he was left vulnerable. Weak. It was uncomfortable. Damien had never found himself in this situation before and he didn’t exactly like the way it was making him feel. He needed time to process everything that happened today. To truly figure out if this path was one he wanted to keep walking down. As much as he liked danger and taking things someone else clearly didn’t want him to have, Damien was also the wiser of the two brothers. He knew a potentially fatal situation when he saw one.

With the same fierceness, Alyssa looked at Kol. “You won’t go after him. This ends. Damien won’t fear you as long as I’m breathing and in Madison Valley. And Damien, you won’t provoke my brother. Honestly, I don’t give a fuck if you two never speak again, but if a repeat of this happens, don’t think I won’t react the same way.” She didn’t let go of the magic and this time, spoke so quietly, that if not vampires, the two would strain to hear her. “I didn’t choose to have my mother cut up my hands,” the scars still evident on her otherwise perfect body. “I got tricked into the crown in Wonderland by my darling husband, to fulfill his fucking Deathspeak vow. Nobody else gets to make my choices for me. I belong to myself. I choose to be your sister, Kol, and to love you, always and forever. “ Some of the wildness left her eyes.

She gradually let go of the branches that held Damien and said, “Je suis désolé.” Alyssa needed Damien to go, because once she broke off the magic, she’d collapse and need Kol to get her home. In this particular dick measuring contest, she may have won, but they could outlast her. Her magic wasn’t everlasting, at least not here cut off from home.

As if realizing she might need comfort, Chessie appeared on her shoulder, concern evident on his feline face.

Once Damien left, and had gotten far out of sight, Alyssa released the magic all at once, and, as if it never happened, the plants and flowers returned to their original state. As expected, Alyssa fell to the ground, shaking.

It was rare that Kol Mikaelson was struck speechless. However, at this moment, listening to Alyssa speak, he couldn’t think of a damn thing to say to make it better. If it had been anyone else dictating orders to Kol, he would have ignored them. But this was Alyssa and yes, she was his sister, and deep down, he knew he’d crossed a line in trying to kill Damien. As much as Kol wanted to protect Alyssa, controlling her to do it wasn’t an option. He’d be no better than Klaus, daggering his siblings everytime they dared to step out of line and tried to validate their own existence.

Instead, Kol merely nodded in response. Hearing those words, even after what he’d just done, was more than the Original vampire deserved and he knew it. His siblings had tossed him away like trash for far less transgressions. The fact that Alyssa hadn’t was an unfamiliar kindness to Kol. That alone was enough to ensure Kol would respect her wishes despite hating that they included someone like Damien. But Kol would let her make her own choice. It was the least he could do after everything that had transpired today. In return for the unconditional love she’d shown him.

Chocolate brown eyes flickered to Damien and he watched the roots gradually retreat from his form. Given Kol knew French, he knew Alyssa had apologized to the other vampire and that, in return, the vampire had responded roughly in kind. He sensed Damien didn’t apologize for too much, but Kol didn’t either. Except Alyssa was different and he knew, at least, that they could both agree on that. The dark haired vampire didn’t glance in Kol’s direction as he took his leave, disappearing from sight quickly.

Kol’s attention turned back to Alyssa and the familiar creature on her shoulder, clearly offering her comfort. It was then, finally, that Kol felt the roots retreating from around his body. They disappeared in much the same manner they had arrived, shifting back beneath the earth. Alyssa fell to the ground in a heap, clearly spent from her display of magic. Kol raced to her side and quickly scooped the blond up in his arms. He could feel her shaking and Kol looked down at the young woman, concerned etched across his pale, handsome face.

“I’m sorry, love. I was just trying to protect you, but I went too far. You have my word that I will never do that again. I’ll let you make your own choice when it comes to Damien. When it comes to anything. It’s the least I can do for the unconditional love you’ve shown me,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

“Let’s get you home, alright? I am truly sorry about today. From the bottom of my heart.”

Damien needed time. After everything Alyssa said today, particularly about her past, he needed time to think, digest the events of today. The pact with Alyssa had made Damien’s existence in Madison Valley very complicated, very quickly. As much as Damien enjoyed pushing boundaries and breaking rules, he was in an unfamiliar town, surrounded by almost no allies. It was a dangerous position to be in and while he didn’t think Kol would come after him again, Damien still felt uneasy. Because it was clear where Alyssa’s loyalties lay and they were not with the elder Duval brother. He didn’t doubt that her offer of protection could be revoked at any time should Damien step out of line.

More so, Damien didn’t like needing that protection. He didn’t like the idea of potentially being controlled because of it. Back home, he didn’t particularly like being in that situation either, but at least there, he had far more power than he had here. He had nothing in Madison Valley, not even his brother, and being that vulnerable bothered him. Especially because it happened in front of two people he barely knew. One he already despised. No, Damien had to think and figure out what his next move would be and if it would involve Alyssa at all.

Hearing Alyssa’s apology pulled Damien from his jumbled thoughts and the vampire watched as the roots retracted from around his form. Climbing to his feet, Damien’s blue eyes flickered to her face; the irises dimmed and he raised a hand to wipe the dried blood from his already healed bottom lip.

“Toi et moi tous les deux, Alyssa,” he replied quietly. Then, without bothering to glance in Kol’s direction, Damien took off in a perfect demonstration of vampire speed.

Alyssa watched as Damien blurred away. She probably burned that bridge, but the Netherling found she couldn’t care at the moment, given her utter exhaustion. Her protection extended towards him for as long as Damien lived here, not one who lightly gave issues like she did, and not dependent on his actions. In fact, she hadn’t issued anything like what she just did in this town. Maybe she and Damien would grow closer or maybe they’d avoid each other, but either way, it needed to involve the two of them and only the two of them.

Chessie licked her cheek and watched as Kol scooped her up before disappearing, probably back to the house. The magic still hummed in her veins, but it cost her dearly to pull that much magic to her in a place without a connection to home. In truth, she probably only managed it because a portal here opened up to home at one point. She knew if needed, the Netherling could perform the same magic again, but not without some cost to her and the cost usually came in snippets of her sanity. Alyssa would find it ever so slightly more difficult to make rational decisions after using her power the way she did.

Once her brother lifted her up, and spoke, Alyssa offered a tired smile. “Thank you. For loving me that much, even if that maybe wasn’t the best way to show it. And for understanding that I deserve a say in my own life.” She had no fucking clue what she’d say to Rebekah when Kol got her home. Somehow she doubted their sister would buy most stories, knowing Alyssa and Kol as Bex did.

“I still want beignets,” she joked with that same tired smile. “Your task, once you get me home, is to bring me takeout. Of the jambalaya and beignet variety.” Christmas gift ideas would have to wait, because Alyssa’s energy reserves felt at about -100 at the moment.

Kol had toed the line since arriving in Madison Valley. He’d only technically ‘killed’ one person and the death he dealt Irina wasn’t permanent. Regardless, he’d almost made it two today and if he’d killed Damien, it would have been permanent. Kol knew that Alyssa had saved him from not only making a huge mistake, but from the consequences that mistake would have brought upon him. The people here didn’t look kindly on those who kill; even if they barely knew Damien they would be upset if he was killed because he was one of them too.

Most of all, Allison would be disappointed in him. As much as Kol disliked Damien, the other vampire wasn’t worth hurting Allison or Alyssa over. They deserved the best from Kol even if he didn’t always believe he had it in him to give. Even if he didn’t always believe he was worth their kindness or their love.

“Of course, love. I’m just sorry you had to wear yourself out to show me the bloody light.” And in turn, ruin their day out together. Oh Kol knew he had a lot of making up to do. He chided himself silently for letting his violent nature get the best of him. Alyssa deserved a fun day out with her brother, not a fight. He already swore to himself that he would do better next time, but right now, he had to get Alyssa home.

At her words, his frown shifted into his trademark cheeky grin, brown eyes alight with amusement once more. “Fair enough, darling. I’ll get you home and then play errand boy. Takeout from Hope’s restaurant is the least I can do at this point.” Hopefully, his niece wouldn’t notice anything amiss, but he highly doubted it. She was as perceptive as any Mikaelson. As it was, Rebekah was going to want answers. His sister could smell bullshit and if they tried to lie, they would fail. Not that she probably wouldn’t be able to put the pieces together herself. She knew how Kol could be after all.

“Maybe we can even still make that video, darling. Of course, I guess if I wanted a blockbuster hit, I should have recorded you going all Mother Nature on our asses instead,” Kol teased gently. He nuzzled her cheek, expression sobered momentarily as his lips brushed her ear.

“I am truly sorry, Alyssa. Truly.” He pulled back and keeping Alyssa cradled close to his chest, took off in a blur towards home.

Alyssa didn’t care what it took, but she’d do anything, including ripping off snippets of her sanity, to keep Kol from making the worst mistake he could in this town. The townspeople wouldn’t forgive him and Alyssa refused to listen to whatever fucking gloating his brothers might say; Marcel would say. She knew, too, she’d never forgive herself if she felt culpable, and how could she not? This started because of her actions.

Upset didn’t feel like an apt description for Allison if Kol murdered anyone. Furious? Livid? Frantic? Devastated? Pissed the ever loving fuck off? Yes. If he did it in front of Alyssa the Netherling didn’t want to discover if that enraged her more or just made Alyssa guilty by association. She truly liked Allison and had zero desire to get on her bad side.

“Kol, I will use any and all my power if it stops you from making a mistake like that. But, let’s not make it a habit, k? I thought about yelling out Allison’s name, but I don’t want any vampire who doesn’t like you with that information.” Alyssa’s guilt weighed heavily enough on her, and adding to it made her nauseous.

Her grin grew a bit. “Just tell Bex that you might kick my ass at video games, but today Mother Nature beat out vampire. Like paper overtaking rock.” Alyssa wouldn’t lie to Bex, but neither would she throw Kol under the bus. Truthfully, she felt so exhausted and drained, it would most likely be Kol explaining to their sister, anyway.

Eyes closing, Alyssa whispered, “I know, brother of mine.” She looked forward to a blanket on the couch with some warm and cozy clothes along with her takeout.

“I can not make you that promise, Alyssa. I will do my best to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” Kol said softly. He was a vampire and as such, he possessed heightened emotions. He was also protective of those he cared for and yes, Kol had a lust for violence too. It was a potent combination and he couldn’t promise he wouldn’t erupt like a volcano again. He’d do his best for Allison and for Alyssa.

The vampire chuckled. “I’ll let her know. I’m sure she’ll be amused. Well, hopefully.” Kol figured Rebekah would probably be more horrified that Kol had practically killed someone in front of Alyssa. As it was, he was expecting a hell of a tongue lashing once he’d gotten Alyssa settled in at home.
