To say that Lady Irina was put out would be an understatement. She knew better than to let it show, fortunately. Prince Adam had thus far avoided her and her invitations. He had remained just on the safe side of insult or she would have cried foul to the King. Her lineage was worthy. Her Aunt had procured her a spot in the ladies eligible for the Prince's hand. She knew she would make a superior queen. It would help that certain abilities that came with being from the House of Mikaelson would assure that she ruled through Adam.
But she was being spurned. Knew it, and liked it not. It was perhaps time to use Court to her favor. Some suspicions whispered in the proper ears could begin an investigation on why the Prince seemed less inclined to entertain her suit...or any others, for that matter.
The best time for gossip and intrigue was the hour before the evening feast when all were dressed for the night and lingered in the Great Hall. Sweet meats, fruits, bread and cheese were on sideboards to tempt the appetite while pages wandered about with pitchers of wine and ale to refill noble goblets. Lady Irina had just had hers refilled with wine while her pale blue eyes cast about the players on the stage of Court.
