The cruise was a welcome way to spend two weeks out of his summer, Jedikiah had decided pretty early on. As much as he loved being in Madison Valley, he loved the chance to be somewhere else. He imagined the feeling -- or at least the second part of the sentiment -- was the same for most people. He knew that his friends, few though he had, were feeling pretty much the same. Even Shosanna, who was admittedly slightly hampered by having an infant to wrangle.
So what had Jedikiah done? Volunteered to take Vivi for a while, naturally. He hadn't even really needed to explain his logic, he'd just gone to her cabin and gone "hey want me to take Vivi for a bit?" She'd handed him her daughter, handed him the diaper bag, and waved him off. He didn't mind the reaction, though, had just laughed and headed off with the little girl who was his biggest reminder of the man that had been the closest thing to a best friend that he'd had in a long time.
He'd spent a while wandering aimlessly before ending up on the Seawalk. It was something he hadn't checked out yet, and something likely to keep Vivi's attention -- at least, as much as anything could keep the attention of a child less than a year old.
"Yeah, you're hittin' your limit here, aren't you?" he asked, shifting Vivienne in his arms again. "You think it's time to move on? Yeah, it probably is."
The noise Vivi made was equal parts cranky and agreeable, in that way only babies could really manage.
