There's a point, honestly, where she'd known that the mutation would be hell on her body. She'd been determined and Vesemir had injected her with the mutagen. Of course, when she'd shown up in this place about five days ago she'd decided to lay low. The place where she'd woken up hadn't been familiar but she'd heard the movement. Heard Jaskier and Geralt both. That didn't mean that she'd stay put.

She could pretend like the best of them but it didn't mean she could get that past Geralt and she knew it. Knew that this hadn't been what he'd wanted for her, but she'd been determined to be like him and she got what she wanted. So, she'd intended to avoid him and Jaskier for a little bit longer and head out to scour the neighborhood.

There were so many different people and places. Different scents. The heightened senses were something she'd have to get used to, but that was something she was determined to do, as well. For now? She'd find a place with good food if not good ale. Even if that last one was probably going to pose a problem for her.

Hayley had her hands full with Jesse being a Pokemon whatever the hell. Aiden was upset, obviously, so she usually had a clingy little boy wanting her attention. The opening of Li'l Avengers Daycare was a HUGE help. That Steve guy knew what he was doing with kids and took Aiden in on an emergency basis. It was cute how he blushed when she'd hugged him.

Aiden was at daycare so Hayley was able to get some errands done for the restaurant. Memorial Day was coming up which would kick off the Summer. Hayley had plans to possibly extend operating hours during the warm months.

As she hurried around downtown she caught a scent. It wasn't unusual, but this one belonged to someone she didn't immediately see. Hayley paused as she looked around then tilted her head. "Hello?"

If someone had mentioned Memorial Day to Cirilla then she wouldn't have known what in the world the other person was talking about. This place wasn't like Cintra or Kaer Morhen. She does, however, note someone nearby and it wasn't someone that she knew. This wasn't Geralt or Jaskier. Wasn't even Yennefer. Not that she'd seen the woman around and that was probably a good thing after everything that had gone down between her and Geralt.

It was, honestly, easy to get lost downtown. People milled about and buildings were everywhere. Sure, a good kingdom had buildings, but not this close together. However, hearing the voice of the strange woman she crosses her arms, more to have something to do with her hands than anything. Even if she'd rather be gripping the hilt of her sword or out riding.

"Hello."

Hayley smiled when she got a good look at the young woman. She recognized the behaviour as hesitant or shy. A lot of the members of the Crescent Moon pack had been the same way for good reason.

"You okay?" she asked. "Are you new here?"

Shy was not something that Cirilla would know what to do with. Hesitant, however, was something she definitely was. Especially around so many strangers and even stranger people. Even with the heightened senses she wasn't entirely sure who was who. Then again, this wasn't her home town.

"A bit overwhelmed." Not entirely a lie, she was overwhelmed. The place before her was overly strange. The buildings and people even dressed weird. That hadn't stopped her from attempting to blend in, however. "Yes. I've only been here a few days now. It's a lot to take in."

Hayley's smile warmed as she nodded. "It can be pretty upsetting when you first get here."

She didn't move closer, not wanting to spook the woman, but she kept talking. "I'm Hayley. I've been here a while and I own a restaurant. Are you hungry?"

Ciri wasn't entirely sure if it was upsetting or not, but it was overwhelming and daunting. She did know that. It also didn't help that the place was full of people and she could practically hear all of them. Something that wouldn't have been possible before the mutagen. Not without one of her visions anyway.

"Cirilla, but most call me Ciri," She tells her, eyes on the woman willing to help a complete stranger. "Starving, actually. What kind of food do you have?" Was Hayley's place better than a tavern? That was the real question.

"Nice to meet you, Ciri."

Her charitable nature came from being an alpha and a mom. Hayley would never turn away anyone in need. "Cajun and Creole." She smiled proudly. "Comfort food at its best."

"It's nice to meet you too, Hayley." She says giving the woman a slight smile. "I have never heard of Cajun or Creole." Both of those were foreign to her. The only food she's truly known is Cintra's food. Though, she isn't entirely sure something could be considered a comfort food, not quite. Different kingdoms had different things. That? She did know. So perhaps this was like that, in a way.

"What would you suggest?"

Hayley smiled. That told her a lot right there. Either Ciri had never been to the south or she wasn't from Hayley's Earth. She guessed the latter.

"I would suggest a good helping of Jambalaya. Not too spicy in case you aren't into that."

She was not, unfortunately, from Hayley's Earth. Nor was she from the south. So, everything that the other spoke of was beyond her. The teen didn't know wasn't used to Creole or Cajun things. It might, honestly, become a new thing she enjoys.

"I have not tried spicy. However, I would like to try the Jambalaya." It was something new, after all.

"Normally, this stuff could strip paint for how spicy it is, but I tame it down so people can actually eat it." Hayley smiled again. "C'mon."

She changed direction to lead Ciri toward the restaurant. They weren't open yet, but her food options were all slow cooked so there would be something to serve.

"Where are you from?"

The mention of stripping paint goes over her head a bit, but she lets that roll off of herself. It made her, in a way, wonder if it would be too much for Geralt. Especially if Hayley was taming it down in order for people to eat it. Witchers could, after all, handle quite a bit.

She wasn't sure what direction they were going but she turns following the other toward the place. "Cintra." Though, she's moved around quite a bit during her life, but that's where she was original from.

Hayley had, of course, never heard of Cintra, but she had expected that.

"What's it like?" she asked as they walked. She wanted to put Ciri at ease about this place, and the best way to do that was to ask about her home.

"Cintra used to be a thriving kingdom."

Cintra had been home and where she'd grown up, but she'd moved around quite a bit. Never really staying in one place. When one fought monsters they couldn't afford to actively stay in one place. They took care of whatever monster they needed to and then moved on to the next city or wherever they were needed.

"It was a good place to grow up."

"It isn't anymore?" Hayley picked up on the past tense. She could be mistaken, but somehow she didn't think she was.

It wasn't far to the Crescent Moon so Hayley just unlocked the front door to hold it open for Ciri. As soon as they stepped inside, her big, burly cook poked his head out with a mean expression and a meat cleaver in his hand.

"Hey, Doug. Can you bring us a couple bowls of jambalaya, please? Chicken." Shrimp might be too much too soon.

"Not since the attack from the Nilfgaardians, no. It isn't anymore." Cintra used to be an amazing place and a great kingdom. Where she would go out and play knucklebones with the other children. Even if that wasn't something befitting of her station, but she hadn't cared. It was, after all, something that had been fun to her.

When she slips through and sees Doug poking his head out she can't help but smile a little. The man reminded her a little of Mousesack. It was obvious that the man was protective of this place and possibly the woman that walked in behind her.

"At least you know the place will always be protected."

Hayley got a fond smile on her face. "Doug's a great guy and a better chef. I got lucky when I found him."

She waited until Doug had brought them bowls of food. There was even a praline on a side plate for Ciri. Once they'd eaten a little she picked the conversation back up.

"Sounds like war is a universal constant."

Ciri isn't entirely sure if she knew everyone within the palace, so it was nice knowing who was cooking for them. So, when Doug brings their bowls of food the man gets a slight smile and a nod of thanks. The food, itself, smelled pretty good and like nothing she'd ever had before.

"This is good, thank you," She tells Hayley, after a bite of the food. She was enjoying the taste of it. Though, at the comment about war, she gives a nod," Your world consists of many wars then? If so then yes. It's universal."

"Unfortunately, yes." Hayley wrinkled her nose in disgust. "I think wherever there's people there's war."

Time for a change of topic. "But there's no war here, so enjoy it while you can." She gave Ciri a smile. "And this place is always safe."

Hayley wasn't, unfortunately, wrong. Where there were there was always war. She's seen that war up close and personal. Seen a lot of things when it came to traveling with Geralt. Even been betrayed by someone she thought was important. Her and Geralt both had thought so. That, however, was neither here nor there in Madison Valley. Nor was Yennefer there.

"I will keep that in mind, Hayley, thank you," She tells the woman with a half smile. Whether she believed that the place could always be a safe haven or not was a whole other story. Only time would tell on that one.
