Rowan had been sticking to herself and only talking her friends through texting. Even though she wasn’t doing it on purpose, Rowan felt like she was violating their privacy by being able to know what they were thinking. No way did she want anyone to feel that way, and she did not want to know what was going on in the heads of the people who she cared about. It was a box once opened that could not be shut. Part of her was afraid of finding out one of them really hated her or something, especially after everything back home or to find one of them was lying to her. For Rowan it was easier to avoid people than to put herself in the position of possibly hearing something she couldn’t unhear.
Of course, her class had to have a test today and it was the reason for her being outside around people. Her head was throbbing from all the noises, and she had finished the test in record time. Even though she had studied, all the noises in her head had made it hard to focus that she was hoping she managed a good grade. If not, it was one bad grade and shouldn’t do too much damage. Heading back home, she was only half paying attention as her head felt like it was splitting open. Part of her thought about using the other ability, but Rowan was still trying to figure out how to use it and felt it was safer to walk home. Or had been until she almost ran into someone, looking to see that it was Liam. He was the last person she wanted to be dealing with right now!
But Rowan also couldn’t allow herself to be rude since she did like the guy. A small smile, she nodded to the guy. “Hey. Sorry about almost running into you, it’s been a long day and my mind is all over the place,” she wasn’t lying just wasn’t being all clear on what she meant.
