Who: Scott and OPEN What: Scott had a rough day When: Afternoon Where: The Park Warning: Brief mention of animal death Rating: low
Scott was happy to be back shadowing a veterinarian and helping out like he had been doing with Deaton back home. It felt familiar and it reinforced that this was something he was good at. Most of the time, he enjoyed it, but today had been hard and it left him feeling numb. Losing one animal was hard, but today it seemed like the odds weren’t in their favour at all. Two dogs and a cat and each time the vet had asked him to give the bad news to the owners since it was a skill he needed to be good at. Whether he was good at it or not, he couldn’t say, but after the last bad news delivery, he had been dismissed for the day and Scott left in a bit of a daze.
This was a part of life that Scott struggled with. He wanted to save everyone. He wanted to help people no matter what, but in the end, he was often reminded that he couldn’t save everyone. Even if he knew it wasn’t his fault, Scott held the deaths as his responsibility.
Not ready yet to go home, Scott wandered through the park. He ended up finding a bench and sitting down before he leaned back and rubbed his face with both of his hands as if he was trying to rub away the bad feeling inside of him.
