</center>Caroline claimed a seat at the bar and put in an order for a margarita on the rocks. As she waited for her drink, the blond idly flipped through her smart phone. However, her mind was far from the images that appeared on the screen. It was the Day of the Dead and Caroline was focused on the people she'd lost. It was a long list; since becoming a vampire, she'd watched death and yes, she'd caused it too. Despite changing, trying to be better, on a day like today, all of it weighed upon her. No, no one was perfect, but Caroline still felt the guilt for what she'd done even if it had been decades since she'd done it.
Stefan and her mom were at the forefront. She often wondered what the two of them would think of the life she'd built in Mystic Falls. If they would approve of the Salvatore school and it's message of safety and acceptance. She told herself they would without a doubt, but somehow there was still doubt. There were also moments when she wished they were around to give her advice or support her like they always did.
Her margarita arrived and Caroline took a small sip, savoring it as she let more memories wash over her. It wasn't just Mystic Falls; it was here too. Would they be happy for her? She took another sip. Of course they would be. They wanted her to be happy, to find love, and she had. She had Lizzie and she had Stan; she felt lucky. She was lucky.
