WHO: Quentin Sollys and OPEN
WHAT: Reminiscing and accidentally sneaking up on people
WHERE: By the river
WHEN: Sunday evening
WARNINGS: TBD
STATUS: Open/Ongoing

Quentin loved spring. Of course, the flowers and trees here in Madison Valley were nothing like the perfect ones in the Summerlands, but they possessed a strange wild beauty because of their imperfections. Still, it made him a bit homesick as he took a walk through the dusky public gardens. In Toronto, they could still have snow in April, of course. In Shadowed Hills, Luna's roses would be blooming and scenting the entire Knowe. He couldn't help but wonder what adventures Sir Daye would be going on while he was lost here in Madison Valley. He also thought of Dean for a moment, missing him as much as he missed Toby.

Of course, he had Sabrina here, and he cared for her very much. He knew that his fling with Dean back home wasn't Endgame - they both had duties they had to fulfil that would pull them apart over the years. But still, he'd been one of the first who knew exactly who Quentin was in his old world. He'd tell Sabrina about Dean one day - it didn't seem so important since the other Fae wasn't even here and their lives were so vastly different here. And Sabrina made him happy.

Leaving the gardens, he went down to the river, walking silently. His steps didn't even make the slightest sound as he came up behind someone on the bench, surprising them without even meaning to.

"Oh...I'm sorry," he said, blushing a little. He had to remember that human hearing wasn't as good as that of the Fae. Or even changelings, for that matter.

Alyssa actually startled more from her lack of sleep than anything else. Some of the wild plants tried to warn her of someone's approach behind her.

"No worries. The flowers did try to warn me you were coming up behind me." She realized how that sounded, but she just didn't care. Her sketchbook sat next to her. She had one of the river, but she'd actually been sketching Jason from memory.

It didn't sound weird to Quentin in the least. He was fairly certain that the flowers spoke to Luna and there were others like her in his world. Talking to flowers wasn't really that odd.

It did make him think that she was fae or something, though. He looked at her for a moment and didn't quite see it.

"Are you fae?"

Alyssa did not possess a good answer to the question. Was she fae in the typical sense? No. But she did share commonalities.

"Not exactly?" A lady bug gave him a look for the question. Oh good. If he was Fae, which she assumed he was, Alyssa didn't think angry insects were what either wanted. Thankfully the lady bug was tiny, so it's not like he could see it. Not that Alyssa could, but she could hear what the bug was saying to the boy.

"I mean, I can talk to plants and bugs. I have wings and can fly. But, that's more my Netherling genes from Wonderland than what people mean when they speak of Fae. So, like Fae adjacent?"

Quentin was fae. Daoine sidhe, to be exact. He was the heir to the crown of the Westlands, which meant that it would be difficult for him to be more fae.

"You're like...a large pixie?"

That was the best that he could come up with to compare her to home. Their worlds were clearly different and yet there seemed to be overlap as well.

"I'm Quentin. Definitely fae. Daoine Sidhe."

Apparently that was supposed to mean something. Unfortunately for both of them that meant about as much to Alyssa as Wonderland did to him.

At the 'large pixie' comment she said, "Sure. If that's what helps you feel more comfortable feel free. I'm half human too."

At the rather formal introduction she considered her next words. "I'm Alyssa. Queen of Wonderland. Lovely to meet you, Quentin." The lady bug sat staring and her butterfly friend? The butterfly whispered that she much preferred Jason, thank you very much. Alyssa might agree, but her expression remained friendly.

"Wonderland? You mean, like in the Alice books?"

He knew a bit about human mythology, just because he was interested in it and believed that you couldn't ignore the human world just because you weren't a part of it.

"Oh, so like a changeling?"

There'd been a time he looked down on changelings, but he didn't anymore. Not after spending time with Sir Daye.

"Yeah, Alice is essentially my great-great grandmother." Close enough.

"Um. Human dad and Netherling mother. So...like bi-species?" Alyssa felt out of her depth.

If he wanted to look down on Alyssa for not being true Fae, that was his choice. It felt a bit like being in Taelor's company and not in a good way.

"That's cool," he said. He wasn't going to look down on her. He'd matured beyond that. When he'd been younger and a whole lot more stupid, sure. But he wasn't that person anymore.

"There are so many people around here from different worlds who have different types of people and stuff. It's cool."

He smiled a little.

"I won't interrupt you anymore. It was nice to meet you."

"I love how varied everyone is! Makes things interesting." She returned the smile.

"Lovely to meet you Quentin." She returned to her sketches.
