“Just wanted to make sure,” Jaq was glad to hear he didn’t mind. Yes, she was someone who pretty much only counted on herself; however, her friends had taught her it wasn’t so bad to count on others. Didn’t mean she was about ready to change her ways, but she might as well make some connections while here. Hopefully, ones that didn’t lead her back down a path that Jaq was trying to avoid for a second time.
Picking up on his comment about the books, Jaq realized the two were a lot closer than she had immediately thought. Part of her was slightly jealous. Mainly for the fact on how she had always wanted a sibling so she didn’t have to deal with her family all by herself. Never worked out in her favor, but it would’ve been nice to have someone who had her back as kids. “I’m glad the two of you both have one another. Probably made things a whole lot easier being stuck here.”
Or at least, she figured it would be having that close relationship nearby and not be here alone. “Since your shift is now ending,” she nodded to the clock and at the time, “want me to wait for you outside? You can tell me about this place while you walk me home?” Even though she was having fun talking to Bellamy, Jaq knew she probably should get to know the place where she was stuck.
