Luke was pretty bummed about having to go to school but he knew it wasn't really going to be that bad. In fact, if he wanted to make friends in this place, school was likely the place to make that happen since it would be filled with people his age or around it. And, since he did not have his family around, making friends would be a necessity. He had no idea how long he was going to be here or if he would ever go back home.
From what Dean and some others had said, the force that kept them here was kind of chaotic. Some people disappeared and came back, some people left and never came back, some people from other people's worlds never came to Madison at all. It also seemed that whatever power or magic juju or whatever this was that brought people here didn't take them completely. From what he'd gathered, where he came from for his family and Bertram and friends, it would be like he never left. That gave him some hope, even if he had to face all this alone.
He sighed, trying to keep his mind off his family and home. He had finally come to terms that this was not some really detailed and intense dream and had even had some fun here. He just needed to make the most of it. To do that, he needed to move forward. He needed to make his mark here---in Madison Valley.
This... this was where he lived now, for however long that would be. He just hoped that the student who was supposed to give him a tour of the school would arrive soon. It was hard to stay out of his more gloomy thoughts without anyone to talk to and he had a feeling he'd bugged the hell out of the school's administration already. Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
He kind of had that effect on a lot of adults. Heh.
