Who: Nick Fury and OPEN
What: Shopping - yes, he does that sometimes
When: Afternoon
Where: Grocery Store
Rating: Low

Fury was pretty sure that Lyra had never experienced a lot of the fall things that people in America - at least the America he came from - were used to. That meant there were a lot of fall flavours, like pumpkin for example, that she had little experience with. It was still too early to consider things like Halloween, though he would encourage her to do that, certainly, but he was currently buying a few apple and pumpkin based items from the grocery store. His cart held the usual arrangement of fruits and vegetables and meat, but he was in the bakery section trying to decide on pumpkin or apple spice muffins at the moment. Finally, he just decided to pick up both. If Lyra didn’t like them, he could take them to the youth shelter - those kids were like bottomless pits.

He was about to move from the section when he noticed a small child had thrown its stuffed giraffe over the cart. He picked it up and handed it to the woman. “She appears to have dropped this.” The woman hesitantly thanked him and kept moving. It didn’t bother Fury. He knew how he looked to most people.

There were a few things that Levi was slowly starting to get used to, and shopping in a grocery store was one of those things. He was used to the open air markets of his home, and some smaller shops but nothing like this. Still, he was learning, and while it wasn't the hardest thing he'd ever done it was a struggle.

Levi was down where the fresh baked breads were at when he caught the interaction between the woman and a man that vaguely reminded him of some of the soldiers in his world. At least, there was something about how he carried himself that reminded Levi of them.

He picked up a loaf of bread, and placed it into his cart which contained a lot of natural cleaning products and a few pieces of produce. His eyes followed the woman, and then made his way to were the baked goods were at. "Excuse me," Levi said, "I hate to bother you, but I don't get to indulge in sweet treats that often so I'm unsure as to what everything is. Could you offer me some recommendations?"

The first thing that Fury noted was the cart. It was interesting choice to have mostly cleaning products - natural at that - and then fresh food. It was rare to find someone who didn't shop in the middle aisle a lot.

"I suppose that depends. Are you the sort that wants more sugar or less." He gestured first to cupcakes with frosting of all sorts of colours and sprinkles and then to a simple apple pie. "You look as if maybe you're prone to the latter rather than the former."

Levi's upper lip curled slightly at the sight of the colorful frosting on top of the cupcakes. They looked unnatural, and unappetizing. "I think you might be right." He looked at the pie, and then picked up one of them. "Thank you, I'm not from one of the richer districts, and normally my food consists of potatoes, beans, bread and whatever meat our military could get cheap." All of which were in his cart.

Levi didn't mind, at least he rarely ever did go hungry which was a definite plus in his book.

That reaction was definitely telling. Fury took note of what the man said about districts and his status presumably back home. "This must be a shock, then, what with everyone seemingly having access to the same sort of food and products." He wondered if this man was from a different world or one of the less happy times in Earth's history where there were great divisions in people.
