As she stepped into the house balancing the two pastry boxes she held, Sydney let out a sigh of relief that she'd gotten them home safely and nudged the door shut with her hip. "Adrian? I'm back!" She called out on her way to the kitchen to set the boxes down on the counter, then hang her purse and keys up on a hook neatly before slipping off her shoes.

"We just have one thing left to do for the wedding," she said, and the pleasure was evident in her voice. Everything seemed to be going perfectly on schedule, and aside from this last detail, they were ready.

Adrian was in the back of the house painting when he heard Sydney come inside. He had smeared paint on his face and even in his hair, but somehow managed to make it look stylish. He put his paintbrush in the water, and headed to the kitchen where he saw her handing the two boxes.

"Okay, that's cake, isn't it? This is one of those things that isn't boring." Food? Adrian cared about. Flowers? Not so much.

Giving a little laugh when she saw him, she couldn't help but think that it shouldn't be fair that he was still so attractive even when smeared with paint. Reaching out, she brushed at one of the streaks, but only succeeded in smearing it worse.

"Yes. There are six small samples in each box because...I just couldn't decide. And I thought you'd appreciate being part of this particular decision," she teased, since Syd knew full well he wasn't too interested in some of the other details.

	"Twelve little cakes," he grinned, his eyes lighting up at the idea. "Do you have a preference?" Because that's how he'd gone with all of this, really. He'd pretty much just figured out what she wanted and had gone along with it. "I do, but I don't know if everyone else will want mocha crunch," she said wryly. "But we could get one layer that way, if you like it too." Opening the first box, she turned it towards him as she grabbed some napkins.

"It does. I haven't tried most of these yet myself, so I don't know how some of them will be. This box has vanilla, chocolate, carrot, seas salt caramel, red velvet, and spice," Sydney told him with a smile.

	Adrian reached into the box and pulled out a tiny cake. He held it up to his nose and closed his eyes; even if it wasn't the one they picked, it still smelled amazing. "So this is...vanilla?" He guessed anyway. He held it out to her so that she could take the first bite, knowing he'd finish it off when she was done. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I think so," she replied, and would have offered to cut it when he held it out. After a moment of hesitation, she impulsively leaned in and took a bite of the piece in mid-air, sitting back as she thought it over. "Hmm. With a buttercream frosting. I'm not sure about this one."

Sitting back, she looked around suddenly. "I'm sure I had a list somewhere. I should be taking notes."

	He plunked the rest of it into his mouth, licking his fingers as he did. "I mean, it's good. But it's not...special, I guess?" After all, it was just vanilla. He didn't have anything against it but it wasn't super exciting, either. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	She smiled. "I get it. How about lemon next?" Sydney suggested as she reached for it. While she was already feeling like she needed to brush her teeth, this was a good way to spend the afternoon in her opinion - though she still thought they should include a layer of nothing but the mocha crunch. 	As they worked through them, Adrian stayed rather attached to the red velvet. It was just the kind of thing he liked. When they got to the mocha crunch, though, he knew it was the one she wanted and he wasn't going to deny her the coffee-flavored cake. Sydney was still licking coffee-flavored cream from her fingers at the question, and she gave him a smile. "I think that sounds like a great idea," she told him." And it was nice to have it settled. Resting a hand on her stomach as she sat back, Sydney laughed a little.

"I'll call the bakery and then eat some crackers. That was a lot of cake we ate." Or it was a lot of different flavors, at least.
