Johanna was not a woman who did nervousness very well. She'd managed to work through her nerves for the most part, though, and she'd mostly just been looking forward to her date with Rodney -- until she'd gone over to Lissa's to get the new lease signed and she'd had to deal with the uncharacteristically smug look on Carson's face. She'd had to keep reminding herself that strangling her new tenant was not good form. Rodney wouldn't have cared, judging by the look on his face, since he'd still been there.
She'd spent the rest of the afternoon in a state of "What is my life, I don't even" before pulling herself together and getting ready. If there was one thing she knew how to do, it was pull herself together and hide behind walls. She'd spent years doing that after winning her Games, she could manage it now. Except for the part where she didn't really have any emotional walls around Rodney, and what the hell was that? Aside from a potentially bad idea.
Mercifully, Rogue hadn't been home while she was getting ready -- the last thing she'd wanted to explain to her roommate was that she had a date. Though Rogue probably would've been distracted enough with that fact that she wouldn't have asked who it was with. She'd already told enough people -- two was more than enough for now. Judging by Rodney's reaction to Carson, he was feeling pretty much the same.
At least Garin was amused by it all, she thought with a wry smile as she saw the look on his face when she walked into the restaurant. Of course, he was amused by everything. She took a breath to steady herself and brushed down the front of her dress just for something to do with her hands as he showed her to her table.
