Who: Spencer Reid and Penelope Garcia
What: Reunion
Where: the street
When: morning of July 1
Warnings: nope
Status: in progress
One moment, Reid was walking to the coffee machine and the next he wasn’t. Now he was standing on a sidewalk in a place he didn’t recognize. Putting one hand on his gun, he looked all around. He didn’t see an immediate danger, except for the fact that he was here against his will. Reid pulled out his phone, but the screen was black. He couldn’t get it to turn on again
“Excuse me..” The voice belonged to a stranger, a young man with a rather bored expression on his face. After ten minutes of the most confusing conversation Reid could remember, he had a ‘welcome kit’ and directions to his new apartment. “None of this makes any sense.” he thought. If this was a dream, it was a very creative one. With no other plan in mind, he started off in the direction of the apartment building. He’d find a way out of here, or he’d wake up.

Penelope was on her way to work at the hospital when she spotted a familiar face walking on the other side of the street. “Reid!” she called, hoping that it was actually him and not just someone who looked like him. That was probably one of the weirder things that could happen here and she would be heartbroken if this wasn’t actually her friend.
Even before he looked over, she was crossing the street, fully intending to sweep him up in a huge hug when he confirmed it was him.

Was he hearing things? That sounded like Garcia, but if he didn’t even know where he was, what were the odds she’d be there too? Turning toward the voice, Reid’s eyes widened as he saw Garcia crossing the street. “Garcia?” He let out a huge sigh of relief and braced himself for the hug he knew was coming. “What’s going on? Where are we?” Just knowing that she was here, wherever -here- was, made him feel a little better about the whole situation. If anyone would have a handle on what weirdness this was, it would be Garcia. She could find out anything if she put her mind to it.

It was him and Garcia’s day just got a whole lot better. She pulled him into a tight hug and simply held him for a long moment before even thinking about answering his questions. It was really good to see him.
“Well, Boy Wonder, hold onto your socks,” she said. “We’re in a temporal paradox alternate universe.” She hoped those were the right science-y words. “There’s this invisible dome over the town and it brings people here from all different times and places. There’s even a Time Lord here! She’s the 13th regeneration of The Doctor and is amazing.” Yes, she had to geek out about that with him since Derek did not appreciate it.

He visibly relaxed in Garcia’s hug, holding on to her and thankful he wasn’t going to be stuck wherever here was alone. But, that...was not the description Reid was expecting. The idea that they were trapped in some kind of temporal nexus was almost enough on its own, but there was one element he couldn’t allow to pass without comment. “A regeneration of The Doctor? Here? But Doctor Who is fiction...how can that be?” Reid had always wanted to meet the Doctor, but the fact that he, no she, was fictional left only fanfic as a possibility. “You’re sure?”

“She even has a TARDIS,” Garcia said. “I got to see it. It’s wild.”
There was always a chance Reid would think that she was on drugs or something and she was prepared to defend herself if he did. “This place defies explanation,” she said. “There are other super smart people here that you can talk to, but they won’t be able to give you a scientific answer for how any of this is possible.” Though if anyone could figure out how the dome worked, it was Reid.

“I would like to see it.”
Drugs were indeed a possibility that Reid had considered. The idea that this ‘nexus’ even existed was so unlikely that he would see Santa Claus riding a unicorn while speaking in perfect Klingon first. But Garcia was behaving too normally for him to think that she had been intoxicated - either purposefully or by accident. Perhaps some contaminant in the air could be causing mass delusions, but it was equally likely at this point that somehow, this was all real.
“Let me see if I understand. Are other people from universes we would perceive to be fictional here as well or is the Doctor an anomaly among anomalies? We are all ‘trapped’ here and unable to leave. Has anyone figured out how we’ve been brought here or for what purpose?” He could feel a bad headache coming on as he tried to understand.

Penelope had no doubt that The Doctor would be happy to show Reid the TARDIS. “Yes, this place is basically Nerdvana,” she said. “Some Harry Potter characters and a whole bunch of superheroes are running around. But then there are also some normal people like us. It’s all very random.”
The thought that they might be fictional to some of these people had not crossed her mind.
“No, apparently the dome appeared about seven years ago,” she added. “And people have been studying it with no results for pretty much that entire time.”
