The natural cool lingering darkness of the alleyway vanished in the blink of an eye, and with an audible gasp the son of the infamous Captain Hook found himself blinded for a moment as unadulterated sunlight washed over his body. Between the warmth and that garish golden light radiating from up above, the pirate lad was at a real loss. Yet as he shielded his eyes with a single hand Hook's blurred vision slowly started to refocus. However clarity of sight itself was no real reprieve because Harry found himself starring across the center of a foreign place. Everything here was so very bright, and clean, and green too! Just the lack of the smell of rotted garbage had his senses reeling as well, though standing in sunlight for the first time in his entire life really took the maggot filled cake.
Without thinking at all Harry moved out of the direct sunlight, stepping into the shadow of the buildings near where he had arrived. Just the lack of trash or the tell tale stench of the Isle had Hook downright baffled and at a loss. However before he could question what was going on those eyeliner smeared eyelids of his suddenly widened even more in real shock...as his gaze landed onto the window of the grocery store right beside him. For a real moment the pirate thought himself dreaming, or figured he had honestly finally lost his marbles for good. However as someone exited those automatic double doors, his spine shivered thanks to the kiss of the air conditioning that he felt for the first time ever. After a lifetime of eating nothing but garbage shipped over from the mainland, with the exception of the occasional piece of fish or the eggs he managed to steal, Harry was absolutely starving for a real meal.
Before the double doors could close the pirate first mate raced right inside, mouth watering all while he sprinted right towards the produce section. Oh he noted the look of fear and concern etched across the faces of the shoppers there. Even saw them recoil at the stench that clung to him as well after having lived on that prison Isle for too bloody long. Still instead of paying them any mind at all the pirate practically pounced on the displays of fruit. Lashing out with his silver hook, snagging and instantly chomping down on a strange looking bit of food too. His audible moan echoed out in between the sounds of the young man chewing on the thing apparently called a pear. However instead of finishing it the half eaten pear was chucked aside, as Harry began to move up and down section; grabbing handfuls of whatever he could and stuffing his face with real urgency.
Even when the shorter but older manager approached to see what the commotion was about, Hook paid the man no mind. But when the man attempted to stop Harry, the kid offered up a quick headbutt aimed right at the poor guy's nose. Busting it and causing the man to collapse into tears as he grasped at his bleeding nose. Like a ravenous wild animal Harry Hook ignored the fellow completely; and ignored all the cries of shock and surprise too coming from the onlooking crowd. No, none of them mattered at all to the boy. All that mattered was stuffing his face and filling his stomach before this dream suddenly disappeared. He didn't care about the mess left in his wake as he moved from one aisle to the next; the half eaten items strewn across the floor, along with ripped open wrappers and half drunk soda bottles and cartons of chocolate milk. With his pockets brimming with pilfered candy, and something called cookies, the young pirate came to stop in another aisle at last. Eyes going so wide as he gazed at all the bottles of booze waiting there on the shelves, but it was the bottles marked rum that truly drew his focus.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here!" Rum was an old friend growing up back aboard his father's pirate ship. Sneaking a bit of the old man's stash at night to keep warm when the winter air threatened to claim him, or to numb the pain of the latest beating he had received...under the guise of 'combat training' with Captain Hook. Just finding so many bottles of the stuff here only further cemented his belief that this was a magical dream, and with a wicked grin the pirate lad grabbed a bottle from the shelf. The sharp tip of his silver hook making short work of getting the top off the rum bottle. At last a genuine sigh of contentment fell from the young man's lips as he grabbed a seat right there on the floor. Gulping down a few swigs of the sweet burning liquid, munching down on a fist full of cookies, and marveling at how amazing this bizarre twist of fate really was.
Sure the burn of the booze was the last straw; the last little sign Hook needed to realize that this wasn't a dream by any means. Still at a loss for answers, the best the pirate could come up with was that he was now on the mainland in Auradon. Clearly brought here by magic means. Oh Hook knew it was all likely one big mistake; and that sooner than later the guards would be arriving to haul him back to the Isle of the Lost. But instead of worrying over that happening the first mate decided to enjoy this brief reprieve for as long as he could. All while wishing that Uma and Gil were around to enjoy the feast and rum too.
