If only Hope knew this place better and didn't have to make an attempt at conversation at all. If she was back home, she probably wouldn't. Unfortunately, she didn't knew Madison Valley very well at all. She was still learning about the limitations of this place and coming to terms with the fact that she couldn't leave and even if she could? Well, this world was not exactly "her" world. It was none of the refugee's worlds actually. Confusing aspect, but true and as much as Hope tried a few spells, nothing had worked so far in an attempt to communicate with those back home. Her magic wasn't strong enough to penetrate the Dome despite being the first born in the Mikaelson line; a heritage that carried great magical potential and power with it.
When the blond didn't respond right away, Hope wondered if she had spoken loud enough. Granted, the Starbucks wasn't crowded and those around her weren't speaking very loudly, but the woman's attention was on her phone and being distracted, it was easy to miss someone speaking to you. However, after another moment, the young woman looked over at her and answered her. It solidified how awkward Hope felt. In time, awkward conversation like these here might cease, but for the moment they were all she had to gain actual knowledge about this place, like how bad the public school system was here. Hope could tell the young woman was studying her, attempting to place her, and when she couldn't, she asked a question Hope should have known was coming.
"Some days I feel like I'm wearing a neon sign on my forehead that says it, but yeah, I am," Hope replied. Would she ever stop looking like a newbie? Was it some thing that wore off or would she always be new until someone else showed up? She remembered being the new kid before at the Salvatore school. At least, at the time, Josie and Lizzie had welcomed her into their group openly. Growing up had changed all of that though they were on better terms before Hope had arrived here. Envy had a way of ripping relationships apart and Lizzie envied her and to an extent, Josie too. Because Josie was the stronger twin and unless something could be found to stop it, they were going to merge into one eventually, with the weaker twin being merged with the stronger. But that was on another level of weird that Hope didn't have to worry about right now. They didn't remember her anyway back home.
