Who: Jedikiah Price and Vanya Hargreeves
What: Valentine's Day for the win
When: Friday evening
Where: The Musain
Warnings: TBA
Status: Closed/On-going

Jedikiah still had days -- a lot of them, actually -- where he wasn't at all sure what he'd done to deserve Vanya. Where he wasn't at all sure why she was still with him, knowing what she did about him. Why she trusted him the way she did. He wasn't arguing with it, not in the least, but there were very definitely days that he didn't understand it in the least.

But that was okay. More than okay, really. Vanya was the best thing that'd happened to him in a long time and he'd be damned if he ever lost sight of that fact. He hadn't been lying to Allison when he'd told her that yes, he did indeed have plans for Valentine's Day. Oh, he did his best to show Vanya how he felt at other times, as well. She deserved something special on that day of all days.

Which was why he'd taken her to the Musain, not because it was fancy but because it was nice. It was nice and they'd been there before, and he figured that mattered more than anything else. He'd spent more time worrying that than about the present he'd actually gotten her -- that had been easy to figure out. Jedikiah was grateful for that much, at least -- one less thing to worry about was always appreciated.

He smiled across the table at her as he took a sip of his wine. "You look beautiful."

It was difficult to say just where the turning point had come for Vanya to be able to start to adapt emotionally despite the medication that kept her muted. It seemed to help in most regards - preventing her from hurting someone with powers she didn't want to face, and to keep her from feeling things more fully - but there were still other desires and emotions that did filter through - and that was in many ways because of Jedikiah. Even if she couldn't give him all of her because she couldn't safely reach all of herself in general, she gave him what she could, and she did care more deeply for him than she had anyone else before.

Returning his smile - it was less uneasy and wary than it had been in the past, and came more quickly these days - Vanya met his eyes as she absently played with the edge of the napkin her silverware was tucked into. "Thanks. I feel like I should've dressed up a little more."

"Oh, nonsense," he said, laughing slightly. "You look absolutely fine. Besides, if you like how you look and I like how you look, then what else matters?"

Well, it was mostly her opinion that mattered, but he'd been trying to make a point with that. He knew she still wasn't always terribly sure about herself -- or at least, when it came to some things about herself -- and no matter what it was, he had faith in her. She had his support.

Vanya was one of the most important people in his world and he'd do anything for her.

"Yeah, I guess that's true." Still, she wished she'd dressed up more for him, though in the end whatever she looked like he always seemed to smile - which was the best part.

"So, what should we get tonight?" Vanya couldn't remember what either of them had eaten there before offhand, but she was open to his suggestions and opinion, because she cared about what he thought. "What are you in the mood for?" She asked curiously as she glanced down at the menu.

"Okay, let's see..." He glanced over the menu as he simultaneously chose and discarded options. "Are you in the mood for the fancier end of the menu or not so fancy?"

Because it might've been a French restaurant, but they pretty much ran the spectrum on the menu and he was just enough of a snob to have preferences both ways. That was how he worked, pretty much -- give him something to work with and he could figure out what you wanted.

"Let's go with fancy. We usually go the other route so...yeah," Vanya replied as she took a look herself at the entrees. "Your French is better than mine, so how about you pick?"

She smiled as she looked back up at him, looking forward to him placing the order - she kind of liked listening to him speak in French, or really just talk at all. Since music and sound were so important to her, Vanya liked the timbre of his voice, and listening to it helped to keep her calm.

"Fancy it is, then." He smiled slightly at her. "Alright, let's see..."

It didn't take him long to make a decision -- he'd quickly learned Vanya's likes and dislikes, the things that she might like, the things she'd try just because he liked them. She wasn't a pushover by any means -- not that he would ever try -- but they'd found a lot of things they enjoyed by virtue of his suggesting them.

He waited until he'd placed their order a couple minutes later before looking to her with a smile. "So, do you want your present now or later?"
