WHO: Isaac Lahey and Allison Argent
WHAT: Meeting up after his arrival
WHEN: Saturday night
WHERE: Hinkles
WARNINGS: TBD
STATUS: Closed/Ongoing

Isaac couldn't completely believe that Allison was alive again until he saw her in person. Even though it had been almost three years since he'd last seen her, the memory of that night never left him. It seemed always to be as clear as it had been the moment he'd seen her die in Scott's arms, confessing her eternal love to him. It had broken his heart, and her loss had been the main reason he'd had to get out of Beacon Falls. He would have gone anywhere, but since Chris Argent had been going to France, he'd decided to go with him.

He'd learned a lot there. He'd found a back and a place and gotten much better at controlling his changes. Full moons weren't a big deal anymore, and he was almost able to completely shift into a wolf instead of just a hairy fanged human. He'd never completely done it, but he was getting close, and he looked forward to that day when he finally got it down. He'd made friends in his pack. He'd grown up. But he'd never forgotten Allison, not ever.

Arriving at Hinkles first, he ordered a dozen of the little burgers to start out, and took a booth near the back so that they could talk without being overheard. He didn't touch them right away, though, no matter how hungry he was. Instead, he kept his eyes on the door and waited for Allison to come through it.

It had been well over a year since the Dome had taken Isaac from her, and Allison had gone through a lot in that time, but she had often still thought about him, even after she'd started dating Chris. Yes, she loved Chris and cared deeply for him, but much in the way Scott still had a place in her heart, Isaac did as well; it was just who Allison was.

As she stood for a moment outside of Hinkles, she thought back to Beacon Hills, and the very short relationship she and Isaac had had there - when things had just been beginning. They'd never been given a chance; then in Madison Valley, they had been together for precious few months when he'd been sent home again - and now he was back with no memory of his time there. The nineteen year old breathed a quiet sigh and shook her head. She'd get through this, she just wished that it wouldn't hurt to do it.

Finally, she tugged at her jacket to straighten it, then headed into the building. Her dark eyes scanned the dim interior as she waved away the hostess, then landed on Isaac near the back. Smiling - because it honestly was really good to see him, and she'd missed him - the huntress crossed the room with ease, heading for his table.

"Hi, Isaac."

Isaac was glad when Allison spoke because honestly he’d pretty much forgotten the English language the moment she’d stepped into the restaurant. All the memories, good and bad, flashed through his mind and for just a brief moment his eyes flashed yellow at the rush of emotion. But it was entirely under control by the time she reached the table and sat down across from him. Well, the werewolf part anyway. If his hands here clammy and shaky, well, that wasn’t really his fault, was it? He was actually seeing his dead girlfriend again. Well. She’d sort of been his girlfriend. Maybe. Kind of.

“Hi,” he said eloquently. “Hungry?” He pushed his tray towards her because he wasn’t suddenly. “You look...good.”

A part of her had been anticipating a hug or something more of a reaction, and her smile faded a little when all he did was sit there. After a moment, she sat and glanced at the food, but shook her head. "No, I'm okay."

Reaching out to touch his hand, Allison tried another smile, wanting him to know that she and all of this was real. "Thanks. I know this is all really...weird, is an understatement, but it's the only word I can think of. But yeah - I've been here a couple years now."

Having her touch him was almost too much. Her hand was warm and real and reminded him of when things had been better, before he'd left Beacon Hills and had actually had a chance with her. He hadn't allowed himself to think about that for a long time. He'd tried to just forget everything when he got to France, although of course he hadn't succeeded. He'd dreamed of Beacon Hills in his dreams every night.

He turned his hand over and clasped her hand tightly, as if he was afraid if he lost his grip he might lose her forever.

"A couple of years? Ever since..." He still couldn't say it out loud.

"Yeah, since then," she said simply, looking down at their hands and laying her other on top of his. "Came here just after, somehow. Everyone says the Dome does this...I'm not the first, or the last. But here I am." It was the only life she had now, and Allison was determined to hang onto it as much as she could. Lifting her eyes to his again, she gave him a small smile.

"I missed you."

"I missed you too."

God, that was such an understatement. When he'd seen her die he'd pretty much collapsed inside. Everything had just seemed to turn into pain and he hadn't even been able to stay around Beacon Hills. Everything had reminded him of her and it had been utterly unbearable. Her dad had apparently felt the same way, which had made them into strange traveling buddies.

"So you've been here all this time. I'm guessing you..." He didn't want to say it, but he had to know. "I'm guessing you have a boyfriend."

The love that she felt for him, like the love she felt for Scott, was still very present, even if it had quieted a little over time. Allison couldn't help that, and she didn't think she really needed to, at least not at this time. When Isaac went on, she hesitated for a moment, then nodded - but didn't let go of his hands.

"Yeah..his name's Chris Halliwell." And he hadn't answered her message yet about Isaac being back, but she hoped it was just because he was working. "He's not from our world, I met him here about a year ago." Allison paused for a moment, before her eyes fell again. "Did you...are you seeing someone?"

It wasn’t really a surprise, and Isaac tried really hard to act cool with it. She’d been here for two years, she was sweet and strong and beautiful and wonderful...of course she’d found someone. It made sense. Unfortunately, it was a lot harder to tell his heart that than his brain but he forced a smile anyway, really wishing that he could feel happy for her.

“Chris,” he said. “Right. Cool. Cool.” He couldn’t bring himself to look at her, afraid she’d see what he was feeling If he did.

“Me? Nah,” he said, shaking his head. “Just trying to keep my head down in France. Fit in. Not cause any waves.”

And he couldn’t help but compare every girl to Allison, and they all came up wanting.

She could tell that the smile was forced, and completely understood. If she had just arrived and found out that Isaac was seeing someone different, then Allison would have been upset and hurt, so she knew how he felt. Squeezing his hand softly, when his eyes fell, Allison kept her own gaze on him.

"What do you think of it? France, I mean." Nervously, one of her hands reached out to steal a fry from his plate so that she'd have something to nibble on and distract herself.

Gently, Isaac removed his hand from hers. It didn't feel right to be holding hands when she was in love with someone else. Maybe that was silly, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

"It's not Beacon Hills? I mean, it's good in that way. I don't want to be in Beacon Hills anymore. But I mean, it's not that different, really. Werewolves are there if you know where to find them. I had a pack. I liked that. It felt good to belong somewhere."
