Prompt: February Kisses, prompt reposted by p-for-polkadots from the Kiss Meme
Underwater kiss.I don't care, how you do this or in what kind of situation it happens, I'd just like to see an underwater kiss. But it shouldn't be just a kiss in water, so during the kiss at least their heads should be underwater.
Underwater
“So, Snivellus,” Sirius called out to the black-haired boy sitting under a tree doing his Herbology homework, “why are you sitting under my tree?”
“Sirius, please,” Remus begged, but his friend ignored him.
“Your tree?” Severus huffed.
“Yeah, Snivellus,” James joined in. “This is our spot. Go away. Besides, you have to be careful so you don't get too much sun or you'll explode.”
Peter almost fell to the ground laughing, but Remus felt like sinking into the ground. “Please, guys. Do you have to?”
“Of course, Moony. He's sitting under our tree,” Sirius explained.
“We can sit somewhere else,” Remus suggested, but the boy had already risen from his spot and walked up to them. He stopped in front of Remus and hissed.
“I don't need help from a mangy werewolf.”
“What did you call him?” Sirius pulled Snape away from his friend.
“I called him a mangy werewolf,” Snape repeated, and Peter and James drew closer.
“Shut your mouth, Snape,” James hissed. “Do you want everyone to hear you?”
“Yes,” said Severus with a brutal honesty.
“We'll tell Dumbledore,” squeaked Peter.
“Please, just let it go,” Remus begged his friends. He didn't want trouble.
“Don't you care about what he calls you?” James wondered.
Remus didn't get the chance to answer before Sirius had dragged the other boy away from the group, pulled out his wand and pointed it at Snape.
Severus, however, didn't hesitate and pulled out his own wand and sent a hex in Sirius' direction. Sirius dodged it in the last minute and sent another one back, but Severus' reaction was impressive and he blocked the spell easily. The two boys kept sending hexes at each other, drawing nearer to the lake every second.
“Sirius! Severus! Please stop!” Remus shouted.
“Stay out of this, Remus.” Sirius yelled back and sent a stunning hex in Severus' direction. “This has nothing to do with you.”
“Listen to him, filthy mutt,” Severus agreed. “Stay out of this.”
Remus pointed his wand at the two and shouted “Accio wands!” The wands flew out of their hands and Remus caught them with his free hand.
Severus froze when his wand disappeared, but Sirius, who was used to Remus summoning his wand whenever he did something Remus didn't approve of, took advantage of the situation and pushed Severus backwards into the lake.
Peter, Sirius and James broke into a fit of laughter and Sirius raised his arms in victory.
“One Slytherin down,” he exclaimed proudly.
“Sirius, you bloody idiot!” Remus yelled. “What if he's hurt?”
The four boys stared into the water for a second, but no Snape emerged to the surface.
“Accio Snape,” Remus pointed his wand at the water, but nothing happened.
Remus dropped the three wands, threw off his cloak and jumped into the lake. He had to find Severus!
The water was ice cold, but Remus was so scared he didn't even notice. Desperately, he looked around for the other boy and after what seemed like forever he saw a black figure struggling a few metres away from him.
Remus swam down and saw that Severus' cloak was stuck and that the other boy was flailing to get himself loose. Remus immediately tried to rip Severus' cloak free from the plant that was holding it back, but Severus pushed him away. He tried to undo Severus' cloak, but found his hands being forced away.
“You bloody idiot!” Remus thought. “I'm trying to save your life here.”
He tried again and wasn't surprised when the other boy grabbed his hands yet again. What he didn't expect was to be pulled nearer and kissed. Remus was so surprised, he didn't object or bother fighting Snape off, he just let him kiss him.
Both sets of lips were tightly closed, but it was still a kiss, there was no denying it. Suddenly Snape's cloak loosened from the plant and the two of them rose upwards.
When they breached the surface, Snape pulled away immediately.
“Get away from me you animal!” He called out and pushed Remus hard. “Say anything about this to anyone, and you're dead!” He whispered in a hiss and started swimming to the shore.
Perplexed about what had just happened, Remus found his way back to his friends and James helped him out of the water.
“Ungrateful bastard,” James muttered as he cast a warming spell and wrapped the cloak around Remus to keep him from freezing.
They walked back to the castle. James, Sirius and Peter kept going on and on about Remus' heroic action and how Snape didn't deserve it.
Remus didn't speak a word. The only thing that was running through his mind was the kiss.
Why had Snape done that? And why did he say those things when they came out of the water? It had been nice, though, Remus couldn't deny it. Nice, but confusing. Remus smiled to himself. He wouldn't mind trying it again. Perhaps in less wet conditions next time.
He had one mission in mind when they got back to the castle: to find Snape!
