I would like to thank Snupin Santa and her elves for another wonderful fest! I've been participating in the Fest for many, many years now, and it's the only one I really do anymore because it ROCKS! This is just a small story as a thank you gift for your efforts to give all of us a merry, Snupiny Christmas!
Title: Two Words Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 557 Summary: Sometimes few words can hold a wealth of meaning.
Severus had lived his whole life knowing all about magic and curses, but he never believed in miracles until the day a dead man showed up on his doorstep.
Of course he was supposedly dead himself, so he was able to shake off his surprise at Remus Lupin's unexpected appearance at his small cottage relatively easily. A thousand questions burned on his tongue, but were never uttered because he suddenly found himself pushed back into his home, the door slammed, and as his back hit the wall Remus was pressing up against him, capturing his lips in a ravenous kiss that stole his breath and drove any coherent thought from his mind.
Questions seemed even less important shortly thereafter, as he lay on his back and watched as Remus straddled his hips and slowly, slowly took Severus into his body. Remus' skin was flushed, his golden eyes glittering with desire, and there was no room in Severus for anything but want and need and an all-consuming pleasure unlike anything he'd ever known.
He awoke to the scent of bacon and toast, and walked naked into the kitchen, finding Remus wrapped in his bathrobe, standing at the cooker and turning the browning strips of meat with a fork, but he turned and smiled as Severus entered, a melting glance that spoke volumes. There was silence between them, but it was lazy and sated and they were both famished, concentrating on the food while exchanging heated glances. They left the dishes on the table and returned to bed, where Severus discovered that they both hungered for far more than mere food.
It wasn't until the third day that either of them made a sound more than desperate moans or cries of fulfillment. It was in the time just before dawn, when the world seemed to be holding its breath. He opened his eyes when the warm arm which had been draped possessively over his waist was removed, and Remus rolled away from him and began to rise from the bed. Sleep fled and Severus' hand flashed out before he even thought about what he was doing, capturing Remus' wrist and holding it in a fierce grasp. Caught in mid-yawn, his hair tousled, Remus' drowsy eyes blinked as he raised a brow at Severus questioningly.
"Stay."
It was only a single word, but for Severus it was like opening himself up and exposing his deepest secrets. His longing. His loneliness. His hunger and need for something he'd never had until Remus had tracked him down in his solitary exile. It was every question he couldn't ask and every weakness he could never showed to anyone, and he felt naked in that moment in a way that was far more vulnerable than baring his body. He didn't know if Remus would understand, and he could never bring himself to explain, so the word hung there between them, saying little but meaning everything. Severus waited, his heart suddenly pounding in his chest.
He didn't have to wait long, however. Remus' smile was warmer than the rising sun, and he moved to take Severus into his arms, entangling their legs and holding Severus close and tight. And when Remus spoke, it was the answer to every question.
"Always," he murmured softly, then made the word a vow as he sealed it between them with a tender kiss.
