Fantasy Fest 2010! - Prompt Post
With some tweaking, we are, indeed, going to have a fantasy fest after a two-year hiatus. If you're new to the concept, read on!
What is a fantasy fest?
For our purposes, a fantasy fest is when members of lupin_snape submit Lupin/Snape fantasy prompts for fics, drabbles/drawables and art. Writers and artists later claim the prompts and will return to the community with a story, drabble or piece of art based on the prompt claimed. Prompts remain anonymous until a piece is posted or the masterlist is revealed. The fest is running in July and August this year, and we are going to try for drabbles/drawables in July and stories/art in August.
Prompting, I can do! How?
Prompts on this post are screened, and I will allow two prompts in each category (story, drabble-drawable, art) per person. Put the category of your prompt in the subject line. Make a new post for each prompt you make. Trust me, this will help me sort things out later. Each person can offer up to 6 prompts (two in each category).
Drabble/Drawable prompts should be standard as you know them - three words, or a setting and character, etc.
Story prompts may be no more than three lines, as wide as your screen can go in default text. This means your prompt should be no more than 4 lines. Abbreviations are welcome, but please remember, authors will only have about a month and a half to work. Epic-level prompts are less likely to be chosen.
Art prompts need to evoke a scene somehow, or give an artist objects, settings or characters to work with. If you want your art prompt picked, try to come up with something unique that will challenge an artist - again, three lines or less. Simple art prompts, however, are also welcome for drawables.
Prompts must be age-appropriate - if you are under 18, do not make NC17 or R-rated prompts and do no pick them up for creation. I reserve the right to throw open the prompting if we don't get very many, but, hey, prompting is the easy part. You do not have to be participating as a writer or artist to prompt. Remember, your posts are screened here. Do not give away your prompt until your piece is posted by the artist or writer.
Drabbles? Drawables
This year, July is dedicated to drabble/drawable prompts. Anyone can pick and create a drabble/drawable prompt and post it in July. After July 31, the drabble/drawable period is over with the hope that the creators who took on longer prompts will be ready to post in August. As a creator, you are welcome to participate in both phases of the fest.
Lengths/Requirements?
For our purposes, drabbles must be between 100 and 500 words. Drawables will be at the artists' discretions. Stories should be at least 1000 words and art more on the finished side.
Again, the prompts will be listed for claiming without prompter's names attached. The idea of a fantasy fest is foremost to offer inspiration while also fulfilling someone's wish. Prompters' names will be revealed in the masterlist, although we will not keep you from letting the creator know when you offer feedback. This is to keep the focus on the ideas and not on individuals. Fantasy Fest is not an exchange.
Deadline for posting prompts: Friday, July 9, 12 p.m. EST
Here is an example of a typical long prompt: Remus is also an expert at Occlumency/Legilimency, only Snape doesn't know it and Remus decides to start using his skills against Snape. Dirty talk and desperation a bonus, Happy ending a must!
Here is an example of an under-18 short prompt: Snape has trouble with a Slytherin student & Remus helps him w/the issues. Snape also learns something about Remus. A kiss. Female student. Under 18.
Here is an example of a long art prompt: Remus on his knees in bed - naked, one hand braced on the headboard, the other used to finger himself... he's looking down (or up) at a photo of Severus (nude) and doesn't notice that Severus is coming into the room behind him, taking off his clothes and getting ready to join Remus on the bed...
Here is an example of a short art prompt for under-18: Kissing under a full moon with Harry looking shocked in the background. Under 18.
Here are examples of drabble/drawable prompts: "Minerva, llama, blue" or "Diagon Alley and runaway broom"
We will assume all prompts are Snape/Lupin, so no need to write that out unless you are requesting a threesome. I suggest you write a prompt that's going to make a creator want to claim it - don't be afraid to reveal your specific preferences in making your prompts - this is called the Fantasy Fest for a reason!
Suggested Abbreviations:
S = Snape
R = Remus
-18 = under 18
PoA, HBP, etc.
Any limitations?
• Fantasy does not necessarily equal sex. This is an all-ages community, so prompts can vary from G - NC17.
• If you are under 18 years of age, you must say so in your prompt and your prompt must reflect that.
• Two prompts per category per member - no sock-puppet journals, no RPG journals.
• Threesomes can be requested as long as the prompt clearly makes Lupin/Snape equal or dominant.
• No requesting art or stories based on existing art or stories. The idea of a fantasy fest is to generate new ideas.
Can requests be thrown out? Yes.
• I will throw out prompts if you are under 18 and do not say so in your prompts.
• I will throw out prompts for stories/art of an overtly sexual nature if you are under 18.
• I will throw out prompts that do not focus on Snape/Lupin.
• I will throw out all your prompts if I find out you have used other journals to make more than one.
• I will throw out prompts that do not make sense (too abbreviated) - but I will try to contact you for clarification if you put it in early.
• I will combine prompts that are identical in nature, attributing it to both requesters.
Disclaimers, Warnings:
I set the under-age limit at under 18 because that is the age a person becomes responsible for him/herself in the United States. I understand that some countries allow people to take responsibility for themselves at younger ages, however, I needed to set a cut-off for my own sanity, and I know I would feel uncomfortable writing smut for someone 17 or younger regardless of what country the person lived in.
I have helpers in figuring out things like who made extra prompts or who is under-age. If an adult story or art piece is produced for someone who is under-age and I find out later, I will ban that person who was under 18 from the community, no questions asked, doesn't matter if you turn 18 before I find out. If you have a question about your prompt, go ahead and run it by me through a post here or in e-mail. I will try to respond, although I'm fine with other people answering if they have insight.
No Hard Feelings:
Not every prompt will be claimed. It's possible that none of your prompts will be claimed. We have hundreds of members but very few active creators. If you feel like your prompt not being chosen is going to make you feel upset, you might want to reconsider making a prompt. This community is such a wonderful place, I know this probably won't be an issue, but I'm saying it anyway for the benefit of new members who might not have had a chance to participate in a fantasy fest before.
You can edit your prompts right up until Noon on July 9. Please delete your old post and make a new one.
Rules on participating as a writer or artist will follow when the prompts are posted for claiming. Other questions, comments are welcome - I'll unscreen them as I answer them. I hope everyone will enjoy another year of Snupin Fantasies!
love, lore
P.S. - Please spread the word about this in your journals and other communities. It's been very quiet around here lately. Let's make some noise!
