You may sign up for more than one week, and you may also choose to post in September if that works better for you. If you wish to post outside of those five weeks, please just make a comment with your ideal time. This fest is loose in structure for a reason - the more participants, the better. We want to bring back our boys in the same grand style that a certain other character was years ago. Remus Prompts | Severus Prompts |
Werewolf lore: a) ways of killing werewolves • Lycanthropes have an immunity to curses because of their disease. • Werewolves being Dark creatures, they cannot be brought down so easily by Dark magic, much like giants. While the curse used on Lupin severely incapacitated him, it did not kill him outright as previously thought. • Werewolves can only be killed by silver or burning or another werewolf, so killing curse only put Remus in coma • He wasn't killed by silver, so his wolf self will heal his human body (possibly relative to the full moon, possibly not). • Everyone knows that short of pure silver or a whole lot of aconite, it's very hard to kill a werewolf for more than a few hours. • He's a werewolf and they are undead - only killed by silver bullets or beheading. The killing curse is not a silver bullet, nor is it decapitation. R wakes up in his coffin (six feet under?). • The lycanthropy curse requires that for Remus to die he must be killed in wolf form. • Wasn't killed "properly" (i.e. certain way to kill a werewolf and this wasn't done), so his body slowly healed itself. b) resurrection at full moon • The death of Fenrir Greyback "reset" his metabolism and as the lycanthropy ended, he was revived. Might take place on the first full moon after his "death". • Resurrected by full moon, and Moony fought his way out of his tomb. • He only comes back to life on the full moon. • Remus Lupin is dead, but the werewolf sure isn't. Come full moon, the werewolf rips Lupin's body into life again, although whether Lupin is still around is another question entirely. • He's a werewolf. Mourned and buried, but hard to kill, so the night of the full he comes back to himself and claws his way out of the grave. • Werewolves that 'die' return to life the next full moon without the lycanthropy. c) not really killed, just concussed, or only ‘werewolf’ dies • Werewolves are hard to kill. Resistant to some spells. The caster who killed him didn't have strong enough magic to do the job properly. • Remus Lupin is a werewolf and thus, is not that easy to kill. His body just went into a state of hibernation until he could heal. • It takes more than a Killing Curse to take down a werewolf; Remus is just seriously stunned. • The AK he was hit with only "killed his werewolf side," leaving his human side intact. • Lupin was concussed by a fall and woke up cured of being a werewolf. d) other random ones • Remus survives because he's a werewolf, Severus doesn't but becomes a ghost (unfulfilled promises, wanting to know outcome of war) Ghost&Mrs Muir movie plot w/ raising Teddy. • A werewolf can be revived with an ancient spell that relies on the blood sacrifice of another werewolf. • Remus is a werewolf, but unbeknownst to anyone else, James taught him to be an animagus, too. It doesn't fix the lycanthropy, but as his animagus form is, bizarrely, feline, he has nine lives. • When human form cannot sustain life, change to wolf form begins. The Others: a) Tonks gave her life for him • Tonks gave her life to protect Remus, so the killing curse bounced off him and he was really just deeply unconscious for a while • Tonks took the Killing Curse, thus Remus was protected as Harry was. b) That wasn’t really Remus/reincarnation/cloning • Remus was really, really annoyed that anyone thought it was actually him saying "I, Remus John Lupin...", so he came back to fix the issue. • The reason Lupin acted so out-of-character in Book 7 is that it wasn't him at all - but then, where is he? • The Lupin in the book was someone Polyjuiced into him and he actually left the country before he ever married Tonks. • Reincarnation • Reincarnation as some random epilogue!child, zombie, or inferius. • Mistaken identity. • The Muggle Prime Minister decided to be proactive about the Voldemort problem and started making powerful wizards "disappear" (i.e. rounding them up and putting them lock-downs with magical dampeners), and replaced said wizards with clones. The final battle was fought, but how was a clone and who wasn't? Snape? Lupin? • In the near Future, the Ministry decide to take over the wizarding world, using cloned wizards. Among them are Severus and Remus clones. • Remus has been cloned either before the last battle or after it. • Remus' body was either a simulacrum or a horcrux. • Polyjuice potion - someone was impersonating Remus that night. c) Other ways of coming back • Called back because he's needed • Chooses to come back • Forced back against his will • Has to fight his way back • Faked death • Timeturner d) Not really dead • Just as the DE casts the Killing Curse, he's hit with the same, weakening his spell to the point where Remus is in a very deep coma, but not dead. It will take time for him to physically wake, but he is conscious in his sleeping body, hearing everything. • It wouldn't be the first time, in the confusion of battle, a wounded/unconscious person was mistaken for dead. • Severus has prepared him well, somehow. • Remus wasn't dead, but was in a bewitched sleep, much like Hermione, Ron, Cho and Gabrielle were when at the bottom of the lake - when cast on a person, they are in a suspended animation and do not breathe • Remus was cursed and in a coma. • He really was just napping on the floor of the Great Hall. • He's not dead, just unconscious when Harry sees him. • Draught of living death. • Sleeping beauty spell. • A Death Eater owed Remus a life-debt and used a spell to make him only appear dead.....spell could be reversed. • The killing curse which hit Remus bounced off another object or person. Thus it was very much weakened when it hit, placing Remus in a very deep coma which appeared to be death. e) Brought back/unresolved issues • The heroes of the war are all gathered together in a transition place: Remus, Tonks, Severus, Fred, Colin Creevey, etc. etc. DEATH (or a messenger from the afterlife) arrives and explains that the universe is out of balance and two people must return to life. Naturally everyone wants to go back, but Remus and Severus have already been chosen to return. • After Voldemort's defeated everyone who died with unresolved issues (indirectly) through his hands is resurrected. Sev and Remus definitely have some unresolved issues. • There's an old myth that every 7 years wizard martyrs who died before their time are given a chance to walk the earth for one night. And if they can find their soulmate in that time they'll be returned to life.... • Andromeda uses Teddy's blood to try to bring back Ted and Tonks and ends up with Remus instead... f) Potions (mis)use – accidental or otherwise • Remus, worried about the final battle, took a large amount of Felix Felicis. Unfortunately, he took too much, which caused him to be overconfident and reckless... in fact, he took so much that the potion became toxic to his system. The AK Dolohov sent passed over Remus as he collapsed from the overdose of Felix Felicis. He was in a deep coma, bouncing back and forth between death and life, when someone who was preparing the bodies for burial realized that he was not dead (no rigor mortis?). Poppy and the healers immediately took action to flush the toxins out of his body, and he woke up several weeks later. • Andromeda, knowing her daughter wanted to fight, but wasn't physically ready due to recovery from the birth, had prepared a powerful, time-delayed sleeping draught for her. Unfortunately, Remus accidentally took it before he left for the battle, mistaking it for something else. Tonks is frantic to find him before he falls asleep on the battlefield, but is killed before she can. Remus falls asleep and is assumed dead - so many are dead they aren't checking as thoroughly as they should. The sleeping draught wears off after a day or two, and Remus wakes up. • Andromeda wants to be rid of her embarrassing werewolf son in law. using the opportunity of the battle, she poisoned him with aconite. But the dose is not lethal enough, and Remus falls into a coma. • Tonks poured Draught of Living Death down his throat to keep him safe before she died, but since no one knows to give Remus the antidote... g) Resurrection Stone ideas • Remus resurrected by Harry with the Resurrection Stone. • Remus finds the Resurrection Stone, but realistically - as in he has to deal with the consequences of having a half-dead shade around. • Dolohov accidentally mispronounced Avada Kedavra when trying to kill Remus, but the hatred and intent was behind the curse. Remus hangs between death and life, and when Harry summoned him with the Resurrection Stone, it tied him to the earth permanently. Now he just has to figure out how to get back into his body. • The Resurrection Stone has some sort of hidden property that allows the last person to be killed (we're only considering Lily, James, Sirius and Remus for this, since they were the people we saw when Harry got the stone) to be revived. h) Faked death • Remus fakes his own death by changing clothes with a disfigured body or using a spell (whatever you can think of) and goes to find Severus. • Wanting to escape the clutches of a horrible union, Remus knew that the confusion of the battle was the perfect time to leave, so he created a fake body and fled. • A protean charm changes one thing to assume a different form. Snape, who didn't die in the Shack, came across a stunned Remus and charmed a nearby body to appear like Remus. Then he created a portkey and took Remus away. i) And the random rest • Lily was so pissed to see Remus married to Tonks and left his newborn son, her rage worked magic and he ended back living. • Remus tried to kill himself after seeing Tonks die (or hearing Severus was dead), but the Killing curse failed because he didn't have enough intent behind it. • Severus used some (very dark) magic on Remus so that if a killing curse was sent his way, Remus would be transported somewhere else: An alternate reality? A Muggle life? amnesia? • Remus stalked and killed a DE, making a horcrux of his own that only one person in the whole world knew about. • In the future Teddy finds a way to exchange his life for his father’s - by accident. • When Sirius, Lily and James moved back to the afterlife, Remus found himself returning to his body instead. He wakes up in the great hall to find Luna pouring unicorn blood in his mouth. When donated freely, unicorn blood restores a soul to a dead body. • Snape figures out how to use the Mirror of Erised to bring back Lupin (similar to Harry getting the stone in book 1). • If someone swears an unbreakable vow, they cannot die until the vow is completed - can be used for either Remus or Severus • It was all a bad bad dream. • Randomly waking in Muggle New York, mistaken for a homeless guy and packed off to a hospital. • You're not supposed to see yourself with a time turner - but what if you're already dead? • Snape returned to Hogwarts and asked Albus for the Elder wand, used it along with the other brother’s stone and the cloak in a mystic enchantment to go into the other world to seek for the man he loved and bring him back. • Phoenix fire, when used on corpse, allows human regeneration Aaaaand, finally, Crack! • Falls out of sky on the thirteenth full moon after his death and lands in the Lake. • Movie Resurrection: Alan Rickman, displeased with the end of DH, refuses to sign on for the last film unless he is given a different/better end. David Thewlis jumps on his bandwagon, and Alan lets him even though Remus was barely going to be in the film to begin with. Rowling is asked to rewrite their endings, and in a fit of revenge, writes them as quite gay for each other, thinking they will give up and cave in to their current ends. Little does she know that both men have happily played homosexuals before..... |
1. Potions/bezoar • He was not really dead. Took an anti-venom potion before entering the shack and smeared dittany on the bites to stop the bleeding. • Before the Philosopher's Stone was destroyed, a last batch of the Elixer of Life was made. While some of it went to the Flamels, most of it was kept by Albus and Severus for an emergency. Albus used this potion during HBP in order to stay alive and teach Harry. Severus kept the rest of it. While it could cure a Dark curse (Albus), when Severus drank it, it healed the non-dark snake bite and restored him to full health (after Harry and co. left, of course). He only pretended to die, so they would leave and he could get the vial out of his pocket. • Years after the war, Draco exhumes Severus' body and sticks a bezoar down his throat and tries to rally around Severus as the next Dark Lord. Severus has only been in a state of suspended animation all that time. • When donated freely, unicorn blood restores a soul to a dead body and heals it completely. • Had potions/bezoar on him • Anti-venom, healing potion, draught of living death, etc in hollow tooth or magical equivalent • Bezoar, antivenin, blood-replenishing potion, draught of living death to fake his death • I support the 'Iocaine' defense! Of course he's spent years building up his resistance to various potions and poisons... • He'd already been taking the anti-venom to Nagini's poison. • Immunity to Nagini's venom. • As a potions master and highly cunning man, I doubt Snape didn't see this coming, so he prepared some sort of antidote. • Phoenix, bezoar, antivenin, blood replenishing potion, and created a fake doppelganger before leaving for greater. • After what almost happened to Ron last year, Hermione always carries a bezoar. The trio leaves Severus in the shack, unconscious but alive. When they return, he is gone. • The vial of phoenix tears Albus gave him. • He didn't want to die before he knew for sure Voldemort was gone forever, so he made a no-die potion. • As he always does, Snape took a vial of an antivenin-poison neutralizer potion (of his own invention) prior to his meeting with Voldemort. It just took a while to take effect. • Slow-acting paralyzing agent in the venom, countered by antivenin he had taken; he goes into hiding until he visits Lupin's grave and finds it empty. • Reference to his "stopper of death" line from 1st years Potions speech; took a super strength restorative potion (possibly one to block or slow down AK curse); left Harry additional memories (time-delay activation?) of his "non-death" by potion. • Never died because he's got resistance to/cure for Nagini's venom. • Snape can stopper death • Snape was actually never dead, since he had foreseen Voldemort´s mistrust in the Elder wand and suspected that he would use his other trusty weapon, Nagini, against him and inoculated himself for months while devising a way to clear his name and flee. • Voldemort's followers prepared for the possibility of snakebite. Faked own death • Faked death • Without anyone realizing, Snape cast a wandless Confundus charm on Voldemort and the Trio. They merely think that Snape was bitten and died. Snape faked his own death scene, did a spell that would release the memories to Harry, then went on his merry way. • Faked death, chooses to come back (difficult) • Snape never died. He was in a coma induced by the interaction of the venom and the stuff he'd been taking to prevent dying of it. He knew he'd 1. need to look dead and 2. need a few hours to recover. • He expected to be bitten and took anti-venom - most of the blood was a ready-prepared glamour, and he can act! • Faked his death to get annoying people like Harry Potter off his back. Came back from the afterlife • Called back because he's needed • Chooses to come back • Forced back against his will • Has to fight his way back • The heroes of the war are all gathered together in a transition place: Remus, Tonks, Severus, Fred, Colin Creevey, etc. etc. DEATH (or a messenger from the afterlife) arrives and explains that the universe is out of balance and two people must return to life. Naturally everyone wants to go back, but Remus and Severus have already been chosen to return. • Because he's really, really annoyed that people thought he'd succumbed to the Dark Lord, even though that's precisely what he'd intended them to think, Snape comes back to set the records straight. • Dark Harry, having found out Snape is his father, uses the same ritual to revive Severus that Wormtail uses to revive Voldemort! "I'm going to get ONE of my fathers back!" (optional: And then he wants Severus to help him bring back Lily, but Severus has other ideas....) • "This town ain't big enough for the both of us," had always been Sirius and Severus' motto - but really, you would think they could get along in the afterlife! • Heaven rejects him. • The head Reaper, hearing an account of Severus life story, feels sorry for him and let's him leave. • It was decided that because he sacrificed so much for the cause of Good, that he could be sent back from the afterlife to live his own life. • He annoyed the devil in hell and got kicked out, damned to live for eternity. • Died, found out that Heaven was full of Gryffindors, and fought his way back to earth. • Reincarnation. • After Voldemort's defeat, everyone that died with unresolved issues (indirectly) through his hands are resurrected. Severus and Remus definitely have some unresolved issues. Strangely Tonks doesn't come back. • The Powers That Be (aka God or Allah or whoever you're believing in) said he never really lived his life and sent him back, giving him a second chance. • Afterlife/reincarnation fic like "What Dreams May Come" • Resurrected against his will by well-meaning house elves who Knew His Secrets • Dumbledore owed him and used powers from the afterlife to bring him back • Lily finds a way to repay her debt to Snape. • In the afterlife, Severus is given a chance to bring himself and Lupin back to life - but it will take a rewrite of history that will see Voldemort winning the War. • Severus finds the Resurrection Stone, but realistically - as in he has to deal with the consequences of having a half-dead shade around. • Remus figures out from Harry how to use the Mirror of Erised to bring back Snape. • Harry goes into the Veil to pull Snape back out into the land of the living. • Remus, returned to the living himself, knows Severus is in hell, a matter that most of the Order now feels is completely unjust. Remus is elected the best candidate to go to the Underworld to make a deal with Hades to get Severus back on earth for a second chance, and various Order members make offers for Remus to deal with. • Sirius kicks Snape out through the veil. • Snape's skills are needed and ____ brings Snape back to life for his help. • Severus challenges Death to a game and wins. • Death gives Severus a cauldron that brings back the dead like Arawn had in the Mabinogion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arawn • There's an old myth that every 7 years wizard martyrs who died before their time are given a chance to walk the earth for one night. And if they can find their soulmate in that time they'll be returned to life.... • The venom gives him an out of body experience. And he sees Remus wandering blindly in the afterworld and has to bring them both back to their bodies. • The venom somehow makes Severus relive certain instances in his life that bring him through the process of learning what his life really should be - like, where his salvation truly lies. Wasn't really Snape that died • The Muggle Prime Minister decided to be proactive about the Voldemort problem and started making powerful wizards "disappear" (i.e. rounding them up and putting them lock-downs with magical dampeners), and replaced said wizards with clones. The final battle was fought, but how was a clone and who wasn't? Snape? Lupin? • In the near Future, the Ministry decide to take over the wizarding world, using cloned wizards. Among them are Severus and Remus clones. • Snape has been cloned either before the last battle or after it. • A Death Eater wanting to be close to Voldemort manages to get the drop on Snape and steal his identity completely, including his memories. Snape is left a wandering amnesiac in the Muggle world and his memories of Lily come out when the polyjuiced DE dies because his Lily memories have always been enchanted to go to Harry when his body died. Horcrux • Because Draco was there when Snape killed Dumbledore, Snape used Draco as a horcrux. He's still alive inside Draco, making snarky commentary on everything. When Snape realizes that Remus is still alive, he makes Draco track down his body and restore him. As a horcrux, Nagini's body sucks up the souls of every person she kills, including Snape's. When she dies, the souls are released..... • Snape uses Albus' murder to create a horcrux for himself. Spells • Remus used some ancient Light magic on Severus so that if he came close to death, his body would be transported to the place he could best receive help to save him. • Dumbledore cast spell on him (Severus can either know or not) • Snape wandlessly banished the venom from Nagini's fangs before being bitten. He still lost a lot of blood, but nothing a healing spell and a blood replenishing potion couldn't fix, once the kids left. • The Elder Wand isn't just any old wand, and it senses that Severus Snape has a task to perform. It sends Snape into a state like death, tricking Nagini into not actually biting Snape, until he is alone. When he wakes, he remembers a voice saying "Wake the dreamer" • Similar prophecy if one lives the other can't die, cursed to live forever (not undead). • If someone swears an unbreakable vow, they cannot die until the vow is completed - can be used for either Remus or Severus. • The spell Geminio will duplicate an object - what if Severus discovered how to make it duplicate a person? There were two Severus' the day of the final battle, each with Severus' memories, knowledge and personality. But only one body had the soul. • Transforming into an animagus form renders injuries less severe. After the trio leave, Severus Apparates randomly, then transforms and collapses. He's taken in by a family and healed, but finds himself stuck in animagus form. Wondering if Remus is still alive, he goes on a cross-country trek to find him, not knowing that Remus is frantically searching for Severus as well. • After Harry leaves, and just before dying, Snape shifts into his animagus form. Memory/mind magic • Resurrected using his memories somehow. • It wasn't just Severus' memories that he gave to Harry, it was his soul, leaving him in a coma state • Severus' soul exited his body, but was trapped in his memories. So now he's stuck in a Pensieve, trying to get someone's attention. People keep coming in and out, verifying Snape's innocence, but don't notice the shadowy soul. (optional end: Remus finally enters the Pensieve, and realizes that Snape's soul is still here on earth. He digs up Snape's body and heals it of injuries - because a body will not decompose until the soul leaves earth for good - then he has to get Snape back into his body.) • That wasn't Snape who died - it was a living Pensieve, filled with enough memories and blood to act like Snape, and die convincingly, offering up necessary memories for Harry - Snape hiding in Shack to cast spell to release the memories when Harry came • Snape didn't die in the Shrieking Shack - he modified the Trio's memories to make them think he had. He handed the flask of memories to Harry himself. • It was all a bad, bad dream. Someone finds/heals Snape • Draco finds Severus and lifts him up, tears pouring down his face. The bezoar that had lodged behind Severus' molars comes loose and goes down his throat, curing the poison. And since Draco is not stupid, he remembers the spell Severus used to staunch his blood after Harry sectumsempra'd him, and.... • His mum was alerted by Dumbledore (pick which brother) and popped in as soon as Harry left to revive Severus. • Someone else was waiting in the tunnel, and came in to help him after Harry left. Hmmm...who could it be? • Fawkes comes to the Shack and heals him. • Phoenix fire, when used on corpse, allows human regeneration • The House Elf who cleaned his rooms found him and cast a stasis spell that kept him alive until Pomfrey found him. • Rescued from the Shrieking Shack by his mother (Irma Pince/I'm a price) and Argus Filch or something involving Fawkes • Canon AU: Trio or Hermione try to save Snape • Remus finds Severus in the Shrieking Shack, revives him somehow (your choice) and they take new identities and run off together to live overseas (either Muggle or Wizarding community is fine, as long as they can hide out there.) Portkey • Portkey in pocket. • When severely injured, a portkey activates to safe place where house elf (or other) is who can help. Combine with precautions already taken. Misc. • He could just not actually be dead - Harry didn't exactly wait around. • Timeturner • Snape had a very complicated relationship with Nagini, and Nagini would never really hurt him. • Snape's reasons for asking Harry to look at him had nothing to do with the boy having Lily's eyes. • He's actually a vampire. • (Rather like Shelob) Nagini likes to play with her food - her poison only leaves the victim in a coma. OR Nagini likes to play with her food - her poison KOs temporarily then kills agonizingly - one limb at a time. • Albus died to save him thus Nagini had no effect. • Harry speaks Parseltongue and Nagini inflicts less then a fatal wound (Severus preparations help too) • He was a pre-immortal. Highlander x-over with Methos as his teacher (Perhaps even knew Slytherin). Fitting that a Death Eater has Death as his mentor. • The snake's venon transported Severus to an alternate dimension or alternate timeline! To his surprise, Remus is there too. Crack • Movie Resurrection: Alan Rickman, displeased with the end of DH, refuses to sign on for the last film unless he is given a different/better end. David Thewlis jumps on his bandwagon, and Alan lets him even though Remus was barely going to be in the film to begin with. Rowling is asked to rewrite their endings, and in a fit of revenge, writes them as quite gay for each other, thinking they will give up and cave to their current ends. Little does she know that both men have happily played homosexual before..... • All the fangirls of the world clap their hands and think happy thoughts. |
