PG Three drabbles in one, 100 words each. Remus is still alive, and finds the twitching, poisoned Snape in time. Prompt word: "rise", but I doubt you won't realize that if you read it. Enjoy!
Rise and Shine
Part 1
The rise up from the ground into a world where he was widowed. Thinking of Teddy. Knowing first he had to find out if Severus was alright.
The rise of feelings he had suppressed since Harry's third year. Snape was just reluctant to remember -- probably because Remus himself had to go off, find more love, get married -- talk about a midlife crisis -- at 37!
The sight, which brought the rise of bile.
Remus Lupin, frantic, the rising of his pulse. He stared at the body laid out, still twitching from the pain of the snake's venom. "Damn."
Part 2
The rise of questions. Why didn't he want Teddy? Why had he been so intent on saving Snape? Why was he staying at the man’s side?
The rise of protest. He shouldn't have moved so quickly if he was feeling sick and achy.
The rise of the rescued, hazy black eyes finding his, and trying to understand.
The explanation, stammered, nervous, and awkward. A Remus trying to find acceptance. Desperate. Caring.
The rise of an eyebrow.
The rise of a sneer.
The rise and fall of a pair of shoulders, covered by a shoddy robe. What else did one say?
Part 3
The rise of a new era, at the behest of an old relationship.
The rise of bodily temperature.
The rise of sweat to the palms.
The rise of years-dead dragons in the pit of the stomach -- oh, how loathsome!
The rise of inquiry to one’s self.
The rise of the realization that he, too, cared for Lupin.
The rise to meet the challenge of dinner invitations.
The rise to not let Lupin win, even in this.
The rise of a relationship.
The rise of arousal.
The rise of the sun the morning after. Perfect.
The rise, perhaps, of love.
