"My point is that you've spent the last year and a half moping about for someone you admit you did not treat as you should." Snape reached for a piece of crystallized ginger. He hadn't eaten dinner and hoped its digestive benefits would counteract the alcohol. "Love or guilt, Lupin?"

"You're a fine one to talk. How many years did you carry a torch for Lily?" Lupin snorted angrily and glared into his wine. "A normal man would have given up and - "

"Who says I didn't?" Snape bared his teeth in a grin. "I didn't show Potter everything."
